How to Use as Simple Bridge

WMB54G works fine using PC apps to "push" music through bridge to stereo. How do you configure the bridge to connect any IP enabled device, e.g., a Rio Receiver that "pulls" from the server?

I have the wireless -G music bridge (model WMB54G) - I had forgotten the password so I reset it - Now, my computer will not recognize it - any suggestions?

The Linksys Wireless-G Music Bridge (WMB54G) has a web-based setup page that allows the user to customize settings and set up advanced properties.
Step 1:
Open a web browser.

Step 2:
Go to the Address bar and enter your router's IP Address, then press [Enter].

NOTE: The default IP Address of a WMB54G is 192.168.1.210.

NOTE: If the IP address of the WMB54G has been changed, type the WMB54G's new IP address in the Address bar instead.

The WMB54G's IP address can be changed by:

    • Running the WMB54G's setup CD.

    • Changing it on the WMB54G's web-based setup page.

If you forgot the WMB54G's IP address you can:

  • Press the Reset button underneath the antenna for 30 seconds.

NOTE: This procedure will reset the WMB54G to factory defaults. Any settings on the Music Bridge will be erased. The Music Bridge's IP address will be 192.168.1.210and the password will be "admin" after resetting.

Step 3:
A new window will prompt for a User name and Password. Leave the User name field blank, type "admin" in the Password field, then click OK.

NOTE: If the password of the WMB54G has been changed, type the Music Bridge's new password in the Password field instead.

The linksys utility always sends signal to PC speakers, even when wmb54g unit shows connected. The wmb54g and router are up-to-date and run WEP 128 security encoding. The wmb54g flashes faster when...

I can disable the sound card, set the music bridge as the default sound output device and it works just fine (after rebooting). But if I enable the sound card again, even when keeping the music bridge as the default, the sound goes exclusively to the PC speakers, no matter what device the connection is switched to on the Linksys utility. (By the way the music bridge shows correctly to be connected or disconnected....with no effect on the sound output.) The major hassle is that any usable change of output device requires a reboot. Still testing. Not a single answer from the community. Also I never required the promised temporary password.

The utility needs to be installed in a computer in order for you to use the WMB54G and it will only work with windows version. You can't use it on a MAC computer.
