Setup Menu Unavailable for JVC HR-XVC30U

I own an HR-XVC30U. I recently hooked the VCR up to a new TV. Certain functions are able to be displayed on the TV screen. However, certain functions are not, including the "Setup Menu", "Program Check", and "Prog", to name a few. When I select the "Display" button, the information is correctly displayed on my TV screen, which implies it is properly connected.

The instruction manual that came with the unit is useless.

There were several screens that were unavailable and there seemed to be no obvious solution so I treated it like a PC and rebooted the unit. In terms of this unit, it meant unplugging the unit for an hour and then plugging it back in. All functionality is now available once again.

How to program JVC vcr/dvd/tv remote 076D0FB010 for taping future tv shows. I can only tape shows live on my JVC HR-XVC1U machine.

It sounds like the remote you have, the JVC 076D0FB010, does not have the capability to program future recordings on your JVC HR-XVC1U or HR-XVC27U machines. This feature is typically called "timer recording" or "scheduled recording," and it is controlled by the VCR's built-in programming features, rather than by the remote.
You may want to check the user manual for your JVC HR-XVC1U and HR-XVC27U machines to see if there is a way to set timer recordings using the VCR's own controls. If the manual does not provide instructions for timer recording, it is likely that this feature is not available on your VCRs.
Alternatively, you can consider purchasing a universal remote that has the ability to program future recordings. Some popular universal remotes include the Logitech Harmony and the Philips Universal Remote Control.

Volume is too low.

smith,

good day, not so familiar with this model but try this.

1) try to check in your DVD remote controller if it does have a + and - buttons indicating volume , if does have this features press + button to increase the sound output

2) if remote commander doesn't have this features try accessing the " SETUP" menu. most probably there would be a button in your dvd remote indicating this button "SETUP"

3)once you've access the setup menu, there would be a dialogue box indicating ( Video setup, Audio Setup, display setup, parental lock) insome cases it will show you a display picture of all this menu

navigate the dialogue box and look for "audio setup" once you've access this part there would be options and controls where you can change the volume/audio settings .

cheers,
mark

This model is a DVD player not a DVD recorder. Only the VCR can record.

Guide plus

Are you sure this isn't coming from the tv (is it an RCA or GE?) and NOT the vcr? Either way you would access it in the Menu under Setup or Initial Setup.

Instruction Manual JVC HR-J425

You need the remote working to get at the on-screen setup menus. make sure the remote is set for the VCR (VCR button) and try the menu button. Are you sure this is the right remote for the VCR. May have to get a new remote. Make sure it is a universal that has a MENU button.

How to hook-up my VCR to NTSC TV?

Zohar, You must remember that various regions in the world have different Broadcast systems. TVs and VCRs are manufactured for playback and Recording in different regions. But, while the JVC HR - J 437MS is a Multi System VCR as far as Playback is concerned, It has only a PAL Tuner. So , while you can watch NTSC Tapes, you cannot tune a NTSC Broadcast through its tuner, and watch on your TV. You will only get a B&W picture. To atleast view NTSC Tapes, use the Remote of the VCR, and set System to AUTO or NTSC. Again, there are 2 versions of NTSC - the 3.58 and the 4.43 ones. Certain regions of the US broadcast in NTSC 3.58, and some in NTSC 4.43. So select carefully, Similarly, bring up the TV menu, and select AUTO or NTSC for TV reception. Now you will be able to view American broadcasts in color. But I suggest you set System to AUTO, as then you can watch your earlier Tapes collection from Europe also. As for connections, it is fairly simple. I am uncertain if your VCR has a 21 pin euroconnector (SCART)but it is unlikely. You will be having Audio L and Audio R out ockets at the rear of the VCR, alongwith Video Out socket. Just connect suitable RCA cables from these OUT sockets to the Video and Audio IN (L) and Audio IN (R) siockets on the TV. select AV input, and you are ready. check it out. 99% it will be work out.
