I have a SONY CD WALKMAN D-NE330 which worked fine until recently. I didnt drop it etc. When I turn it on, it just says 'HOLD' and then turns off. The menu button doesn't work either. I tried cleaning what I think is the lens with lens paper. I've alos tried different cds in it.
'try hitting the slide on the side to the top'???? what the heck did that mean??? If you're gonna answer, please people be specific and clear because when we need an answer gobbledegook is annoying!!!
I too had this problem and came here to look for answers, saw that stupid reply and got inspired to solve the problem myself!!! Hey pal, turn your walkman over (upside down)...see where it says HOLD (its printed into the molding--mine is grey) see the little area directly to the left of the HOLD (note it has three little dots ---there is actually a little arrow pointing to it. Adjust this little area and it should release the hold on the cd. Mine's working again. Hope this helps!

if i am not wrong u cant do drop and drag songs in sony walkman series...bcoz along with u r walkman..there s a driver cd..ok..u should install the software wch s supporting u r walkman...then using that software u can send songs to u r set and even u can delete songs frm u r set...its safe to use this software..bcoz drag and drop option s always leads to damage of u r walkman bcoz of infected files...its the same hw the i-pod works...even in i-pod u cant drag and drop songs into it!!!
I had the same problem. For at least a week. Try pressing the reset button. The reset button won't delete your music, videos, pictures, etc. Just resets your system. If that does not work then i don't know what else to tell you.
On almost every port. cd player is a botton lock switch . Some make all the buttons not work and some units only let play work. I suggest you look for this before taking apart as these units have whats called ribbon cable inside them and are very easy to damage them.
