Bissell ProHeat 7901 will not **** up water

I took the clear cover off to clean all the debris out and since then it will not slurp up the water from the carpet very well. The tank in tank only has slightly tan water instead of the black water that came before I cleaned the machine after cleaning the carpets the first go round. This was a different room so I know that the carpet wasn't just clean besides it didn't really have much water in the tank that holds the dirty water.
