Question about Sharp (BQCXGC50X1) Projector Lamp for PG-C45X, PG-C45S, XG-C50

1 Answer

XG-C50 Problem Hi All, I just replaced a Lamp in the Sharp Notevision XG-C50. When I plugged it back in and turned it on it worked fine. That first use I checked the lamp life and it said 84%. I thought it would have said 100% but figured there was some reason it was 84%. When I pressed power on the remote to shut it off, everything went fine. A few hours later I tried turning it back on with the remote. The green light on the bulb replacement light was blinking for about 5 minutes and then went to red. I unplugged the projector and a minute later I tried again and it came up just fine. I checked the lamp life and it was still at 84%. So the lamp doesn't need to get replaced. After turning the power off a few hours later I tried again and it would not turn on just had the red light pop up after 5 minutes. I unplugged it and plugged it back in last night and tested it this morning and it worked fine. Then turned it off, hour later tried to test it and it blinked green then went to red. I shouldn't have to unplug it every time to get it to work. Any ideas? Thanks, - Jim

Looks like the wrong lamp was installed, or the cooling fan is not working. Careful - it may be permanently damaged, as the LCD inside can be hurt by high temperatures.

No special tools needed. these units (dlp projectors) are designed so the lamps and color wheels can be changed out by the user. Some can figure out how to do this easily without instructions but to be safe just do a quick search and find step by step instructions. You can also refer to your owner's manual.

power supply or lamp ballasts, both are pretty common to produce results as you describe, looking at $600.00 or so to repair. if those are the only things wrong.

Having problems with my sharp notevision XG-C40XE

Your lamp is not lighting up most likely. Try removing the lamp assembly and clean the contacts. If that does not work then you will probably need to replace the lamp. Also try resetting the timers. Refer to you owner's manual for info on how.
