Question about Roper RAS8445KQ Top Load Washer
Hi, I have an AEG lavamat 54600 front loading washing machine. It appears to be quite a simple machine, no bells whistles or computer. However, it does have a door sensor which beeps and prevents the machine from working if it senses the door is not shut or sealed properly. It has decided that no matter how well the door is shut (a nice sturdy clunk sound when it is) it beeps and won't let the machine start. My husband has examined the door (it's fine, not buckled warped etc), then checked the rubber ring ( appears fine) and finally removed the door catch mechanism. It appears very simple. A safety catch, to prevent door opening mid-cycle. So how does it sense the door isn't shut properly? Or is it something else? A different sensor somewhere else? Can anyone help please?
Most of the washing machines have a small magnet near the door lock. The door sensor thinks the door is open when the magnet is broken. When this problem happened on my toploading device , I had no clue. Then I called CS and they said the entire door had to be replaced. I then found a small magnet fallen apart. I picked it up and stuck it with glue back to the door and then the issue was resolved.

I must differ with you. This machine does have a computer control card located within the timer base assy. Thee 5 beeps are a response from the computer that informs of a faulty signal between the computer and the door sensor
