We have a Vizio P50HDM that is approximately 24 months old. There was a loud pop and the screen went black. Does anyone know if Vizio is covering this since it seems to be a common problem? It could be 1 of 2 things, the panel could be shorted or the logic main board could be out, you must open the back and take voltage measurements, check the panel voltages and then start pulling the connectors off one at a time, to see if the voltages come back up

If the menu display isn't coming up either, then the odds are the power supply for the screen is the problem. Most manufactures call this a Backlight Inverter Board. Being that it's only 7 month old, it should still be under warranty by the manufacture. I would try to get it fixed by the warranty first if possible.
After all the research I found out that the IC on the Z board is bad and new board was ordered and replaced. The plasma work fine after that and picture is excellent with the new board. This forum is great, without this I couldn't fix it myself. Thank you.
I assume you are meaning the TV has sound and no picture. Are you able to bring up the TV's onscreen menu when you hear sound? If not, you have a problem with a video board. If you are able to see the TV's menu, then you need to try another video input/device/cable to determine if it is the input/output board, which would require service.
needs a Y-Sustain board, about a 300 dollar part, unless you have a warinty, also try turning the tv on, after you get a green light, unplug the tv, after 15 seconds plug it back in, sometimes will make tv come back on
First thing to check is if the back lighting has just failed... Power the set on and looking across the screen can you see a shadow of a picture happening? You might even use a flashlight to shine directly at the screen while you look at it from an angle.

My experience with a Haier Plasma 42EP24S is that they have weak software chip that goes bad and can cause a number of symptoms from picture with no sound, will not recognize video inputs, or my current problem tv turns on and off irratically. This is the second time i have replace this chip, which is the socketed chip on the vga/component/dvi input circuit card. Last time i had this problem i ended up fixing it myself because sears took over 3 weeks and still could not figure out the problem. I am working on obtaining this chip, probally get about a dozen so if anyone thinks this may fix there problem as well i my have some for sale. [email protected] of Malobicky Digital Systems.
