I have two Tefal express steam generater Irons model 2911, which have both developed the same fault after a couple of years. The fault which has developed is there is no steam coming out of the Iron when pressing the switch. The water container does heat up and build steam as well as pumps the water through. You can hear and feel the micro switch operating but no steam comes out. The Iron is not blocked in any way and is free from mineral deposits in the steam holes.

Once you have descaled the boiler and refilled your frontpiece of the iron itself (hopefully with distilled water - any supermarket) you press the "reset"/ "restart" button on the back end of the steam generating unit. When the water is hot enough press steam button & turbo button a few times - WARNING: make sure iron is facing downwards and cover ironing board with old rag because initially brown steam splatter will come out on first few steam releases.
Steam irons can become clogged with mineral deposits. Use distilled water in the iron to minimize these deposits.
To clean the iron , use 1/2 white vinegar and 1/2 water. pour in iron and place iron on steam. The iron may require a few cleanings.
Most of the time the electro mechanism release the steam still open and not able to returning in closing position.Try to cclick quite few time to excite the mechanism and some times work. Also can be the micro switch defective. Good Luck
