Immediately turn it off! There is no self repair of this problem. And turning it back on will damage it further. There are techs that sometimes can recover this, but it is generally over $100 to repair with no guarantees.

The longer you wait, the sugars will start to eat away at the copper inside and make it unrepairable requiring a motherboard (~$150+ labor).

SOURCE: HPG60 Laptop - coffee spill - mouse not working

well this is a common thing but most likely the motherboard was shorted out and causing glitching. I would take it to a tech to see if there is anything recoverable in there

Blotchy spots on laptop screen

Has their been any damage? Overheating due to poor air flow, dust bild-up on fan and vents? Any Updates recently? If a Graphic Adapter is going out it will cause monitor abnormalities. You can try to roll back/update the Graphic Adapter driver. Use a External Monitor to verify the Graphics Adapter, if the external Monitor has the same issue, it's the Graphics Adapter. If the Graphic Adapter has been damaged, it's most likely on it's way out. The screen/monitor can be replaced much more easy.

Power on but no display

try to plug in an external display and see if it works, if not it's probably the video card.

What to do about a gumbo spill which dydfuncted the monitor?

If the monitor is the only problem, replace the LCD screen. Go to www.ebay.com Type: make and model and refine search to screen. First! I would hook a external monitor to the video output usually on the back. If picture okay! replace screen on laptop, but if both screens show the same symptom it is the video graphics card normally built into the motherboard.

How do I disable the laptop keyboard to use external keyboard

Since coffee was spilled on the laptop keyboard it needs to be removed because they hold a lot of moisture that continue to seep on the motherboard and eventually cause more problems, should correct the typing issue.

The left side of my laptop screen wet all white with red green yellow blue lines running veretical lines running through it. looks like someone spilled paint on it

Hello,

Vertical lines are usually caused by 2 things, either your graphics card is going bad or your screen is going bad. How you check if it is your graphics card is by plugging it into an external monitor (if you have one).
If the lines still appear on the external monitor then you know its the graphics card going bad, which isn't probably worth fixing these days if you take into account how must laptop pricing has dropped.

I hope this helps.

Best of luck!!

Dell XPS M1210 laptop was set next to a speaker and now the bottom half of the screen is grey

It's due to the magnetic field interferences from the speaker. At the first place, you shouldn't keep it near the speakers.

Always keep speakers far away from the Monitor. Now turn off the monitor and turn it on again, hope it solve the problem. You may even need to restart the system.

Moving magnetic fields (such as from an electric motor) can cause flickering when near a CRT screen. A static magnetic field, such as from your computer's speakers, can cause color shifts or incorrect colors in the area near the magnet. This color shift is caused by parts of the screen becoming magnetized. Occasionally the color shift will remain after you remove the source of magnetism. To help reduce or eliminate the color shift, you can use the degaussing option on most monitors. Most newer monitors automatically degauss when you turn them on, while older monitors might require you do to it manually. Most monitors have a button or menu option that enables you to degauss it manually. Degaussing a monitor will de-magnetize the inside of the monitor, removing the color shift. Unfortunately, if the monitor is exposed to the source of magnetism for too long, degaussing will not be able to clear it up, requiring you to repair or replace the monitor.

How do I rotate the screen when I rotate the Acer B203w

For Windows XP -- within the control panel, click on Display Icon and the following screen will appear. I have 2 monitors (Laptop and HP L1925 monitor). On the display properties screen, near the top of the screen, click on the “Settings” tab. When the “Settings” screen displays, select the “Advanced” button near the bottom of the screen.

The “Plug and Play Monitor …” screen will appear as shown below. From this screen, click on the “INTEL(R) Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Mobile” tab near the top of the screen. Note: Tab stretches the full width of the screen.

The "Plug and Play Monitor ..." screen will change to show Intel Graphis Media Screen. From this screen click on the “Graphics Properties” button near the center of the screen.

The screen will change to show the graphics properties. Note, the screen actually comes up with “DISPLAY SETTING” selection (in dark Blue on the Left hand side of screen). To change Display settings click on the words “DISPLAY SETTINGS” (left side of screen) and the screen will switch to show Rotation options. On the top of the screen, select the “Monitor” you wish to change by clicking on “Monitor” button. Next make sure the “Enable Rotation” box is check on the right side of screen and then click on “90”. Your monitor should rotate at this point to portrait. A message will appear letting you confirm if you wish to keep this new setting. Specify yes to keep the new setting.

This should do the trick.
