Question about Mitsubishi VS-45607 45" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Intermittent vertical jitter.

Picture jumps vertically at a rapid rate. Looks as if the vertical sync pulse is somehow being affected. Sometimes the picture will lock in by turning the set off and back on. If the set is unplugged from the power source, it will play normal for awhile, the the problem will return. Sometimes it will play for hours before it begins to jitter. Pressing the PIP function on the remote will cause the problem to occur immediately. So far, I have resoldered the joints on the vertical IC (IC-451) and around the vertical section, as well as the power supply section and horizontal section. I have replaced all the electrolytics in the vertical section as well. Problem still persists. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Proton1000

These sets have a PIP module which is plugged into main board and has a brown ground wire to the can.Surface mount caps c7001 and c7036 are usually the problem but if the capacitors have leaked too much you may never recover the board,CURE eliminate PIP by putting 10 mfd 50v cap from pin 5 to 11 and another from pin 9 to 7 on the VP plug under the main PCB

My RCA tv picture is jumping

Vertical jumping may have a vertical hold issue, horizontal may have a horizontal hold issue. Most older tv sets will have some knobs or adjustable screws for vertical and horizontal hold. Turn your set on and check for these knobs on the back of your set and adjust until your picture is in as well as you can get it

Picture looks like it is jumping

Sounds like a vertical sync issue on the chassis board. However you also mentioned the picture moves left to right or vice versa which would suggest a horizontal sync issue. Either issue is not repairable by the DIY. Sync issues must be isolated using test equipment usually found in repair shops. My suggestion push it down a hill and enjoy the show then go buy that flat screen you almost purchased last week.

Screen shakes / jumps vertically on my Sony KP-51HW40

The jitter is called a vertical sync problem. The problem is on the "A" board. It can be replaced or rebuilt but will be quite expensive to service.

Intermittent vertical jitter on mistubishi tv 65000

Good Day, sdkhanmd; Replace C2P05 100 UFD 16 VOLT off pin 3 IC2P01 and IC2P01 part #270P466020 (9 volt regulator). Both are on the signal PCB. Also, check other caps in area for leakage. Hope this was helpful, this common for this model. Good Luck, big IRISH.

Vertical Hold doesn't Hold

This would denote some kind of vertical sync problem. I would begin by checking the vert sync circuitry. To do this you will have to have an Oscilloscope, and DVD containing a steady-state picture. The oscilloscope is used to measure the vertical sync rate and the vertical sync pulses. Taking into mind that ther is a video signal present but it is in the black range. If you do not have an oscilloscope it makes troubleshooting this hard. in any event you will also need a schematic to see what waveforms you should be seeing. If you do not have a background in electronics you may have to have someone who does look at this unit.
