Hello im running a program where there is a list. The calculator is stuck in the middle of the program!!No botton works ??what should i do ?

Application functions cannot be called from within the application. If you try to call a function using the
application's problem-entry dialog boxes, the error message, Protected memory violation, will appear.

Exit and re-enter the application to ensure normal operation.

You can find the program editing menu under "Apps". Choose "New..." After you enter the name of your program, you will be able to edit it. To run it, go to the home screen (the screen where you enter mathematical equations), hit 'catalog', then 'f4', and choose the program from the list.

As for the coding itself, this site has a solid reference of many concepts and commands that are involved when programming for the TI-89: http://tibasicdev.wikidot.com/68k:home The best way to learn, however, is to play around and figure things out yourself. Programming for the TI-89 is much more powerful than it is for the previous TI calculators. Best of luck!

Press [PGRM] [|=>][NEW][1:Create New][ENTER]
At the prompt NAME=, Type the name of the program.
Use the catalog [2nd][CATALOG] to enter the commands Input, Lbl, nDeriv(, Disp, Pause, If, abs(, Stop, and Goto.
In the catalog, the entry mode is ALPHA

1. The fisrt two lines of the second screen are not to be entered. (It is an overlap). I had to scroll down to get to the bottom of the program editor screen.
2. Before you can use it to solve for the zeros of a function, you must define it in the [Y=] editor.
3. The symbol Y1 in the program listing can be entered by pressing [Vars][|=>Y-VARS][1:Function][1:Y1].
4. When finished entering the program press [2nd][QUIT] to exit the editor.

To run it, press [PGRM]. Under the menu [EXEC] you see a list of the available programs. Select the one you want and press [ENTER]
During the run, the program finds an iterate and waits (Pause) for you to press [ENTER]. You must keep pressing [ENTER] after each iteration, until it returns Done.

The only way you can enter text in the TI83PLUS is through the program application. However, I have a hard time understanding what kind of funny story is worth typing with such an awkward, uncomfortable excuse of a keyboard.
Joking aside, if your text has been saved you can access it as follows:
Press [PGRM][EDIT] and select program name in the list.

1. Press [2nd][QUIT] to interrupt any program that may be hung in memory such as games run under MirageOS.
2. Clear the screen by pressing [CLEAR].
3. Reset memory [2nd][MEM][7:Reset][1:All Ram][2:RESET] [ENTER]. ram cleared appears on screen.
4. Press [CLEAR] to go to Home screen.

I agree with the previous solution and would like to add if you declare your variables using the local command then they will only reside in that program.

:local db, e, plus other variable used in your program with a comma to separate them.

And I think what the above solution is saying is to :Disp "k",k would work better.
I hope you used the Ti commands and not the ones you spell out on your listing, if so you might want to check them too. The store command I can understand why you typed it out.

This just happened to me. Running my fingers over helped because the problem was caused by a 'stuck' key. Sometimes it is clearly stuck to down but othertimes it is pretty hard to tell. Regardless when a key is pressed you can't press any of the others until it becomes unpressed.....so one thing to try is to hit the back of the calculator until the keys are all unstuck.

Hello fezzaniaahmed. Im sorry to inform you no parts from TI for the TI-82. You may find another TI-82 with a different problem and 1+2=1. Good luck.
