This is a typical condition if the power supply has failed or a power-consuming circuit the supply services has exceeded a predetermined current draw. The relay you hear is preventing further damage or even fire.
You will need local tech help with this.

SOURCE: red light blinking no picture no sound

tart checking the cable connection to receiver, try moving or replacing cables.

If you have a surround with external speakers check surround connection cable and speakers wiring.

If the cables are OK, then the unit may be faulty.

In that case the fault can be either the audio board (often audio circuit is integrated on the main board) , or the sinput output signal board.
Also a contact on connection to internal speakers can give you same problem.

try checking first your tact switch or your power button, then next look for open fuses or low ohm resistor on secondary part of your power supply then check your horizontal and vertical outputs for shortage and open circuits check also your horizontal drive stage.

Part of your PowerSupply is Frito.
Probably the +/- 15 volt rails, could be other.
Check inside power voltages, probably some regulators are gone.
Preferably get a tech unless you have the know-how and test equipment...

TURN OFF ALONE NEED TO BE UNPLUG AND WAIT,NO SCREEN NO SOUND BUT STILL OPEN

Hi
When the TV is turned off, try to bump on the two lateral sides with the two hand palms at the same time. If the set comes on, there are dried solder joints that need to be clean and ressoldered. Ressolder all the points where heavy componentes are placed: power switching transformer and switching transistor and flyback transformer and associated circuits and the small pcb attached to the CRT. I do not know why, Toshiba sets are prone to dried solder joinis.

Good luck.

The tv keeps turning its self off the red light comes on then we unplug for a while and it comes back on for a while

Not knowing the brand or model (not indicated here) the set is trying to make it from standby (part of the power supply that runs 7/24 if set is plugged to power) to On and having no success.

You have this posted as a projection set but there are hundreds of different brands or models.

kp57ws50_57_in_rear_projection_hd_228277.jpg Problem with Sony KP-57WS520 57 in. Rear Projection

This model is really prone to one problem in particular--screen even briefly comes up bright red, green or blue and set shuts down.

15 seconds from turn on front power light should blink as set checks several things internally---if something wrong it does not let picture show.

Usually after shut down or failure power light will blink a sequence of blinks but not always depending on problem.

Did you see the screen at all go red, green, or blue before?

the more you tell me the better I can help

I get a double click when I turn on the set... The red light blinks with 5 seconds intervals. When on occasion when I turn it on and get one click the tv comes on but will black out about 15 to 20 minutes...

Hi
A common problem for these is bad capacitors in the power supply, Remove the back from your Tv and look at the power supply on the left hand side.

You will see roughly around 9 x capacitors that are bulged / domed shaped on top usually these are valued at 3300uf 10V any that have bulged or leaked a brown like substance should be changed.
This will cure the problem as they overheat being sat next to a heatsink that gets very hot!
Try and change them for the same 3300uf but a higher voltage.
Hope this helps

Toshiba cf35f50

You are missing the red color drive or it is weak. there are adjustments for that in the service menu or on the CRT drive board, but you should not attempt these adjustments unless you have a service manual or know 100% what your doing and how to do them. it could be the picture tube is weak or there could be a problem in the RGB drive circuits. Depending on how old the set is should determine or not it would be worth dropping any cash into it Good Luck
