I was interested in this post as I have tried everything to install this. It is not faulty as it installed straight away on my other pc which is running XP. Canon must be aware there is a compatibility problem with this and 2000. We can't be the only ones! I have uninstalled and re-installed numerous times, tried different usb points & leads but my old Canon S900 is working perfectly with these.
Device manager doesn't show any malfunctions.
i gave up with the Canon help desk. They pointed me in the direction of a special driver download for 2000 but that didn't work either.

Presuming this is not a new install and everything has worked properly in the past; Your start cap has failed. Remove the motor and take it to your professional pool supply place. They can get you the parts or possibly repair it for you.
First off, there is a big difference between windows 2000 and xp.
She needs her windows 2000 install disks and to re-install windows. Then she needs to install her service packs onto it. Either that or upgrade to windows xp. Id suggest she upgrade if she has decent hardware(memory, cpu and hard drive space)
There is no shortcut or work around unless you want to start using pirated stuff, which is probably not a good idea since most of that stuff is just an avenue for viruses and backdoor programs.
The problem is the feature you tried istalling might have corrupted the OS. What you can try doing is create new user account first , restart your computer into the new user computer and then try installing. If the same still doesnot work , then my friend the only solution would be to reinstall windows xp and then put office 2007.
use the windows 2000 professional cd to install the windows again, you can install it to another folder so you get to keep your files if you decide to do it this way, ones your computer is working again, make sure you delete the downloaded file, if you start the file again, the one with the virus, you will have todo this all over again.
Try disabling any background programs that may be running like virus scanners, etc. Then try it again. If it works, you can try to figure out if there is a program that is causing some kind of conflict.
