SOURCE: No sound from VCR

OK here we go, The system is connected in the following manner: DTV-----RG6Coax-----VCR-------RG6Coax-------TVset Might I suggest a simple test? from the VCR to the TV use the Video and Stereo RCA outputs. The reason I want you to do this is to see if the Audio signal is being processed by the VCRs circuitry. I think it is. If it is then you problem might be the modulator that is used from the VCR to the TV when the VCR is on. You see when the VCR is off the RF connections are basically a switched pass-thru, when the VCR is on the switch send the signal to the VCR circuitry and the back into a Modulator and into the audio and video output RCA jacks. If the test works then the signal is being processed by the VCR and it might be a modulator problem, if not then the issue might be the actual RF input circuit prior to the demodulator. Another test would be to play a tape to see if the tape plays. If it does then this narrows down the trouble area between demodulator and the audio and video detector stages. If there is an internal proble you may want to take your unit to a radio and Tv repair shop.

SOURCE: UNIVERSAL CODE FOR A CITIZEN TV

Unfortunately, the codes you use with a universal remote are specific to that model of remote (it's not like all Citizen TVs are "0105" on every universal remote everywhere for example; the same TV might have a different code on each different model of remote), so we won't be able to give you a specific code to try.

However, you can try doing a "code search". Most models of universal remote allow you to search for the code. It's usually something like entering a special code (like 9998 or 0000) and then repeatedly pressing a button until your TV turns off or changes channel -- when it does, you know you've hit the right code and can stop. Look for instructions on how to do the code search in the manual for your remote.

Can not find my instructions book to turn my freeview tv into my video recorder

If the TV has a scart then you don't need to tune it. All you need do is connect a scart to the VCR and TV. Then when you want to record anything, set the VCR to an AV setting instead of channel 1 etc. You need to set it to the one with the scart, as the VCR will have more than one AV looking at it's picture. You then just press record. You won't be able to change channel, or the VCR will record that channel instead.
If this is a problem, get a freeview box and just have it connected direct to the VCR.
If the TV has only one scart, you can get one of these boxes below.

How do I record a tv program with a Sharp A400 VCR? Videos will play on the tv, but I was not able to get it to record. Thanks.

Your VCR is no longer capable of recording "off air" tv signals. All tv stations are now broadcasting in digital format, your VCR is analog only. You can however get a digital converter box that will receive "off air" digital signals and convert them for recording on your VCR. CLICKING HERE will give you all the information you need to hook up the converter box... Good Luck!

New TV won't ''talk to'' old VCR

using the magnovox remote, reprogram the vcr's channels. set it up to use cable not air. when the vcr was unlugged it lost it's channel memory. don't buy new cables, you're getting a picture and sound so that means your rca cables are ok.

Sharp vcr problem

The way to connect them is as follows:
1. Connect the cable from the wall to the cable input on the cable box.
2. Connect the cable box RF output to VCR RF input (VCR must be on channel 3).
3. Connect the RF output from the VCR to the RF input on your TV (TV must be on channel 3).
After all the connections are done, leave the VCR and TV on channel 3 and use the cable box to select the channel you want to record programs from.
Good Luck.

Tv/vdr/cable box

Your hookup is correct- Your VCR needs to be tuned to channel 3 or 4, to match the cable box.

Also, the VCR channel output needs to be matched to the TV. If VCR menu options are displayed on the TV then this part is right. If not, then set either the VCR or TV to the correct channel.

Missing manual for - sharp VC-A560 VHS

I lost my manual and the biggest issue of getting this set up is getting the vcr to the channel you need for play back either channel 3 or channel 4. To change the channel you hold the power button and the tv/vrc button at the same time till you get the channel you want. Three flashing lights is channel three, four flashing lights is channel 4. every time the power goes out mine resets to channel 3 and will not play videos until I reset to channel 4. Hope that helps.
