Occasionally my red color will 'bow; out of alignment. It will bow out and go back to normal on it's own most of the time. Sometimes, as it starts to bow, a simple bump on the cabinet will put it back in alignment and it will remain OK. This is not a constant problwm, it just comes and goes. Someimes the problem shows up within 15 minutes after turning TV on, other times the TV can be on for hours with no problem. Any ideas? I hate to spend $300.00 on new color packs if it is a simple fix.
I believe you dont need the Ic's yet but if the problem is not corrected fast you might soon, you have already diagnosed the problem and that is a loose conection in the red convergence amp,if you are familiar with tv service is something you can do, carefully remove the back cover and locate the convergence amplifiers, they are mounted in heatsinks and have the markings STK--- ---(6 numbers) in the front, all 3 are the same, flip the board and remember that some conector might come loose when you flip the board,if you are not too familiar with tv service seek the assistance of a servicer and make sure some other overheated areas are resoldered as well, the repair should not be expensive now.Let us know how it goes or if you need more information.
