SOURCE: bios password for acer travelmate 2410
there is no default password on acer systems as supposedly there is in dell's
now a good news bad news situation...
in more recent times they switched how the bios stored the bios password. In the past you can could reset it by remocing a cmos battery (small watch type of battery) from the motherboard for like 30 minutes and then enter the bios setup upon the next bootup.
However now some how gone to a 'security chip' a programable EEPROM chip to store the passwords and if so it's required to be shipped back to acer to be fixed and from what I know is not covered by warranty. If this is the case AND ... I say again AND IF it's STILL UNDER WARRANTY (this is completely not a reflection on fixya, it's affiliaties or my self and should be taken at your own risk, liability, and care) you can take out your hard drive and expose the laptop (not the hard drive) it to an electrical current and then contact acer stating it's not working suddenly and need to fixed. take out the hard drive then put on some wool socks run your feet on the floor and when the laptop in on and powered up touch it should do nicely. This of course is to be taken as entertainment and is in no way endoresed by myself or fixya or any of us affiliates or advertisers.

i have had just the same problem, i took my laptop apart removed the cmos battery its just to the side of the trackpack on top of the motherboard, but this did not work, HERE is the solution with out stripping the all the laptop make sure the battery is out and no power to the laptop all you need to do is take the plastic part with the power button on off and underneath you will see a small switch called SW1 move the number one switch to on then power up the laptop press F2 and there you go your in the bios, save all settings turn off put the switch back to where it was put you plastic facia back on replace the battery power up now press F2 and do what you want all is good
