My friend has sent me a image in a message but when i try and open the message it comes up with "unable to download". I am on pay as you go with vodaphone.
Could be that the image file size is too large--seems to top out around 65 KB, then I get that same message when trying to download an image. If possible, ask your friend to resize the image to something like ~160x240 pixels, which should reduce the file size to something manageable, and then to resend.

Some phones only hold pics in msgs for a limited amount of time. Next time you recieve a pic msgs tap and hold to bring up the menu on it. The save image. It will download to your gallery. Problem solved
I had same problem. I downloaded to my images folder but when tried to view I got "File too large" i reseized the image to be 130 x 130 pix and now it worked, I was able to view it. However I couldn'd use it as Wallpaper : (
I have the same thing. But I can still REPLY to a text message I've gotten. Keep a friend's old text message on your phone at all times and just select it and reply to the message and there you go. It still costs you money though.
