Question about JVC MX-J30 CD Shelf System

1 Answer

Unable to read any CD on JVC MX-J30 CD Hi-Fi

I put a CD in any of the 3 CD shelves but when the system checks for it's presence it says there is nothing there (consequently not being able to play any CD). This used to happen now and then but a simple re-insertion of the CD normally solved it but now it seems to be permanent.

As this occurs on all shelves and any CD we can rule out them two things. I would therefore assume it is a dusty lense or a mechanism is not working inside.

If it is just the lense, I assume opening and giving a quick clean will solve the problem? If it is a mechanism however, how can I check and solve this?

P.S. I am competent enough to open the box and have a look around and replace parts if necessary but don't know what to look for or where to get replacement parts if required.

Many thanks for any help.

I have exactly the same problem. None of the cd drives are functioning. The message in the display showes 'no disc'. Using a cleaning cd is not possible. what is the problem?

    Kind regards.

i have the same problem as well, but i did open it and check inside.. when the cd have been inserted it would not spin and the laser will not seem to not be able to sense the cd in the drive..seem to be a mother bord problem.. the whole drive seem to be the problem. it is held together by 4 screws 2 on the back and 2 inside and a ribbon strip.. if anyone can find the complete drive i would like to know...thanks...

Failure of this laser is quite common giving a no disc message in the HiFi's display. A defective laser can also be responsible for an intermittent no disc message and general playability problems with CD discs. Part number Optima 7 / 7B Laser Assembly

for the advance fixers i have another solution.. The unit that i have, i took it apart, the laser is isn't very hard to remove, the tray the laser is sitting on does not have any screws and can be easily remove, but be careful removing the ribbon connector, Now this is what i did, now the unit i have i found in the garbage someone dump it because cd don't play, so i had nothing to loose.. I took the laser out and wash it under warm water carefully washing the lens with soap (palmolive dish liquid to be exact) rinse and compress air blow it dry.. when i replace it, it work amazing, I now have a perfect working unit for free... remember this work for me, i dont know if it will work for you but i had the same problem when i first start the unit as you did...

If it has a aux input at the back you can get a dock and that will let you plug it into your system.

Disk pops-up and blocks halfway when booting

Probably a poor suggestion, but you may want to look for a reset button on the back or the front. It is usually recessed and about the diameter of a paperclip. The electronics may be "confused".

JVC MX-C33 Tape Drive Problem

there are small rubber belts that drive the tape spindle that makes the tape play! Over time these stretch and become loose and make the tapes play slowly and even shut down (replace belts and it should be fine) these belts are located in back of tape spindel and are about two inches long!
