Question about Memorex MP3122 Cassette/CD Boombox

Open Question

Boombox The lid to my cd player will not close, du to a broken piece inside the cd player. Can I replace that piece.

I also have a Memorex MP3122 CD Boombox whereas the lid will not close. I really like the player, the sound is good, the cd player works but I have to hold the lid down with a (slightly) heavy object. The spring inside must not be working - the piece that grabs the top of the cd door has no tension on it.

Cd player lid will not stay closed

Yes, these are commonly available on ebay. You have to remove the old catch first and then plug in a new one. search "cd touch latch" on ebay and look for the following:

Not work CD Player

HelloCheck the CD spins inside it, when we close the lid. if not, check the lid. There is a small swelling like formation at its edge that will get into the CD player, when we close it. This will hit on a micro switch inside the set, which in turn send a CD in signal to its system control IC. If this signal does not reach the main system control IC, it won't sense that CD is in. If this switching process is OK, when you close the CD lid, make sure that the CD mechanism has the trouble, and need service. OK.

Sony cfd-z110 cd seems to not spin/play when door/lid is closed but will play when lid is open and lid switch is depressed, is there any thing (maintence) that needs done on that round piece (that is...

your on the right track. the piece on top should spin really freely. there is a spring inside of that piece. if it lost its track it will lock it up from spinning. one other think it maybe is the tab is broken that presses the switch down. inspect both things if it ends up being the tab missing you can simple hot glue the switch down or dissemble and twists the two wires together (ones at the switch) that will bypass the switch. beware if you do this the laser will be active every time you have it in cd mode. (don't look at the laser it can harm your eyes) hope this helps please rate me.

Durabrand model cd-1493...cd won't play

A friend of mine has one of these, and the same thing happened. Toss in a CD, and the unit reads it, but doesn't play it. Looking at the CD components, all appears to be well, and I was even able to trick the unit into turning on using a paper clip to hold down the "lid closed" switch.

What I found the issue to be was with the lack of downward or clamping pressure the CD was getting with the lid closed. If you notice, with the lid open, there is a round part that "floats" and serves two purposes...one is to align the CD and keep it steady, and the other is to grip it, as the CD's do not snap into the lower centering piece, but rather just sit on it.

I solved the problem by placing a rubber o-ring on it, The one I used is about 1/16" (1mm +/-) and about 1 inch (25mm) diameter. I used some rubber cement to attach it to the top piece. I'm not sure how long this will hold, but it's worth a shot. I figure keeping a CD in the tray will help keep the ring in place as well.

Good luck!

CD lid

I strongly suggest super glue. Just allow the hinge to move into the opened position without the lid attached and then carefully match up the broken section and allow the glue to dry. Should work just fine. A replacement would not only be nearly impossible to find but would probably cost as much in product and shipping as the unit itself is worth.

Best of luck!
