Ok, I'll try. First, I don't trust cable techs. While I'm sure he's a competent person in his own right, When he says the signal from the outside was good, that tells me he measured the LEVEL not the QUALITY. What I need some more info on is your comment regarding "...cable supplier changed their format." What did they change it from [when things were working(?)] and what was it changed to? What city is this cable system in? Did the tech try another box or does the connection plug directly into the set? Have you tried another TV to see if you get the same result? Is the black line horizontal (Left to right) or vertical (Up and down)? This sounds like a sync problem that the TV is trying to lock in on but can't. Let me know what you find, thank you. RY

The picture frame just turns off after the third photo.

return it to the supplier to check and repair of replace. If there is nothing wrong with it they can explain the issue. The supplier is always the first port of call. It may still be under warranty?

I have two sets of black horizontal lines going across my Sony Bravia KDL-52Z5100. If you make the picture smaller the lines extend into the black area that is not part of the picture. After the TV warms...

Hello,

IF YOU HAVE A SOLID BLACK LINE RUNNING VERTICALLY THEN YOU HAVE A FAULTY MATRIX INVERTER. IF CENTRAL THE MAIN VERTICAL INVERTER NEEDS CHANGED. LEFT = LEFT VERTICAL INVERTER RIGHT=RIGHT.........

ANOTHER WAY TO GET THIS FAULT IS WORN OR DAMAGED RIBBON/PLASTIC GOING FROM THE SCREEN MATRIX TO THE INVERTER
Take care in solving the problem...

Double picture on start up

Hi,
It's a convergence issue. Go into the main TV menu under video settings and look for convergence. If it has an auto convergence select that and wait a minute the TV will adjust itself and give you a clear picture.
If the TV does not have an auto convergence and just regular convergence than select this. It will give you a grid pattern on your TV and you have to move the coursor (using TV remote) and adjust each "point" so that each line is perfectly white. If you notice red or blue anywhere on that "line" then you have to adjust using the up, down, left and right arrow keys to "line up the red and blue lines with the nearest white line. It takes time and patience to do, but when completed, all lines on the grid pattern should be pure white and you will have a great looking picture.
You have to do this will all TV inputs (Video1, Video2 and so on) the reason Zoom looks good, is because you never used that screen as much and so the lenses didn't have a chance to get out of syncs.
RPTV's are made of the three lenses (red, Blue and Green) and as you watch TV, these lenses slowly get out of alignment. So you should do a convergence about twice a year to make sure nothing is out of whack.
Good luck...

Black lines in tv

Most likely there are electrolytic capacitors in the power supply, video path, and scan amplifiers that are starting to fail from age. This is common in many of these sets. In consideration of the age of the set, this may not be worth having it serviced.

Black comes across right side of screen

Sounds like you've got whats called a cold solder connection somewhere in the horizontal width control circuit or a connection in the sweep section. Should'nt be two expensive but unless you have had some soldering and troubleshooting experience I would leave this on to the pros. Good Luck
