SOURCE: power cord when connected to laptop does not power

The DC jack, where you plug the power adapter cable, might be loose or defective, & needs to be either re-soldered or replaced.
In order to do this, the laptop needs to be disassembled & the motherboard taken out. Also, the motherboard needs to be checked for defective/burned out components in the area near the DC jack. Any defective/burned out components found should be replaced, or you might need to replace the laptop's motherboard altogether.

How do i repair the electric cable on the vacuum sealer

Repairing the electric cable on a vacuum sealer can be a bit tricky and potentially dangerous if not done correctly, so if you're not confident in your ability to do this safely, it's best to consult a professional or consider replacing the vacuum sealer. However, if you have some experience with electrical repairs and feel comfortable tackling the job, here are some general steps to guide you:
**Note:** Ensure your vacuum sealer is unplugged from the power source before attempting any repairs.
1. **Gather your tools and materials:**
- Screwdrivers (typically Phillips and flat-head)
- Wire strippers
- Heat shrink tubing or electrical tape
- Wire connectors
- Replacement cable (if needed)
- Multimeter (for testing)
2. **Identify the issue:** Carefully examine the electric cable to determine the exact problem. If there's visible damage to the cable, such as cuts or exposed wires, you'll likely need to replace the damaged section or the entire cable.
3. **Cut and strip the cable:** If you're replacing a section of the cable, cut it where the damage is, and then use wire strippers to remove a small portion of the insulation from the ends of the wires. Make sure to cut cleanly without damaging the wire strands inside.
4. **Prepare the replacement cable:** If you're using a replacement cable, strip the ends of the new cable to expose the wire ends.
5. **Connect the wires:** If you're replacing a section of the cable, connect the wires from the new cable to the wires from the old cable. Use wire connectors to secure the connections. If you're working with a whole new cable, you'll need to connect it to the vacuum sealer's internal wiring. Make sure to connect the wires with the same color-coding as the original cable. Usually, it's black to black and white to white, but check the manufacturer's instructions.
6. **Insulate the connections:** After connecting the wires, insulate them properly to prevent any electrical hazards. You can use heat shrink tubing or electrical tape to cover the exposed connections. If using heat shrink tubing, heat it with a heat gun to shrink it tightly around the wires.
7. **Test the vacuum sealer:** Before fully reassembling the vacuum sealer, plug it in and test it to ensure it's working correctly. Make sure there are no exposed wires or loose connections. If the vacuum sealer functions as it should, proceed to the next step.
8. **Reassemble the vacuum sealer:** Put the vacuum sealer back together, securing any panels or covers that you removed during the repair.
9. **Final safety check:** Double-check that everything is securely connected, insulated, and safe. Ensure there are no exposed wires or loose components.
10. **Plug in and use with caution:** Once you're confident in your repair job, you can plug in the vacuum sealer and use it. Always exercise caution when working with electrical appliances, and if you have any doubts about your repair skills, consider seeking professional assistance. Your safety is paramount.
If you're not comfortable with these steps or if your vacuum sealer is still under warranty, consider contacting the manufacturer or an authorized service center for repairs or advice.

Riccar R-200 vacuum? Not working by the areas the has the foot pedal, maybe where the motor wires attach?

If your Riccar R-200 vacuum is not working in the areas where the foot pedal is located, it is possible that there may be an issue with the motor or the motor wires. Here are a few steps you can take to try and troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check the power cord: Make sure that the power cord is securely plugged into the wall outlet and into the vacuum itself. If the cord is loose or damaged, it could be causing the issue.
  2. Check the foot pedal: The foot pedal is what activates the vacuum's motor, so it's possible that there could be an issue with it. Make sure that the pedal is not stuck or obstructed, and that it is moving freely.
  3. Check the motor wires: If the issue is not with the power cord or foot pedal, it's possible that there could be an issue with the motor or motor wires. To check this, you'll need to open up the vacuum and inspect the motor and wires for any visible damage or loose connections. Be sure to unplug the vacuum before attempting any repairs.
If you're not comfortable troubleshooting or repairing the vacuum yourself, it may be best to take it to a professional repair service or contact the manufacturer for assistance.

My Bissell model 2085 has no power when power switch is activatedPlug it in at the foot power button nothing happens

If your Bissell 2085 vacuum cleaner is not turning on when you press the power switch, there are a few things you can check:
  1. Make sure the vacuum is properly plugged in and the outlet is functioning.
  2. Check the power cord for any damage or fraying. If there is any damage, the cord should be replaced.
  3. Check the filter and dustbin to make sure they are properly installed. If either is not installed correctly, the vacuum will not turn on.
  4. Check the brush roll to make sure it is not tangled or obstructed. This can cause the motor to overheat and shut off.
If none of these solutions work, it is possible that the motor or power switch has failed and needs to be replaced. In this case, it is recommended to take the vacuum to a certified repair technician.

Dyson upright vacuum with kinked cord kept stopping. There was a loud bang and smoke and the vacuum stopped. Has the motor blown up, or can it be repaired?

This happens a lot the supply cable bending or damaged shorts out causing smoke and a bang if fitted with or backed up with a high amperage fuse .
check length of supply cable if you find damage/ burning smell,
either replace cable, or you could fit a inline rubber socket and plug by cutting out damaged part of cable and fitting female part of plug first into supply cable 1. then on the vacuum side of cable fit the male part of plug 2 . supply 1. -----o o----------2.--- vac
using insulation tape if you like you can tape plug and socket together to stop it pulling apart, normally cable damage will not damage the vacuum cleaner. and fit the correct fuse rating for the machine 1000 watts at 240v divide 240 into 1000 =4.166 amps
so with a 1000 w load you do not need a 13 a fuse fitted 6 amp fuse should be ok. or go online and see what is recommended re fuse size for appliance ,

Dyson has no power

The most common cause of this problem would be breakage of the wires in the power cord at the point of entry to the vacuum cleaner body. With the power connected you may be able to prove this by flexing the cord at this point, particularly by pushing the cord toward the body of the vacuum cleaner. If you get any signs of life from the vacuum cleaner you can know that this is the issue (not a foolproof test, but one that can be performed safely, provided that there is no visible damage to the lead).

A qualified repairer will ensure that the vacuum cleaner is not plugged in to the power, open the vacuum cleaner casing, note the wiring connections, disconnect the wiring and and strip the external sheath of the cable back to a point beyond the breakage, cutting off the damaged section of wiring and reconnecting the wires.

Miele just stopped working?

Hello,

When a Miele canister just stops working all of a sudden, it's usually a pretty clear indication that either you have a bad cord reel, or a bad switch. I would say that in 60% of Miele repairs that I do with this problem, the cord reel has gone bad.

One easy thing that you can try to see if the cord is bad, is put one hand on the on/off switch, and the other hand grab the cord (making sure it's fully retracted inside the canister). Now pull the cord out slowly with your one hand, while continously turning the switch on / off, on / off. Keep pressing the switch on and off while pulling on the cord. Usually if the cord reel has gone bad, then you may hear the vacuum attempt to start, or even turn on while you're pulling on the cord. The cord reels in Miele use a metal spring inside that makes connection with the rest of the vacuum. Over time this spring will start to loose it's strength, and eventually will get so bad that it no longer makes contact with the rest of the vacuum. By pulling the cord out slowly and pressing the on / off switch, a lot of the times the spring will make connection somewhere, and the motor may turn on temporarily.

If this happens, this indicates your cord reel needs to be replaced. I have done a detailed repair here on Fixya on how to replace the cord on a Miele canister vacuum that you may read here;
http://www.fixya.com/support/t2281026-miele_s514_will_not_come

If you can't get the vacuum to turn on at all, this can only mean a few things. First the cord reels spring is gone completely, and wont make any connection with the rest of the vacuum, and you'll still need to replace it.

It also can mean that just the plug that plugs into the wall is bad, is your plug bent, or no longer straight on either prong?

It can also mean that your motor has gone bad. This however is usually the least likely of all the problems. The Miele motors are almost bullet proof, and typically last 20 years. I can count on one hand the number of Miele motor replacements I've ever done in 10 years of fixing vacuums.

I can try and help you diagnosis this further if my suggestions didn't help you. Please use the clarification request that you see here on this page to ask me a question. Please just let me know what happened when you tested the cord out as I suggested above. I really hope this was helpful to you. If you found this to be helpful, please be sure to rate the repair as helpful to you by clicking the thumbs up icon. I really appreciate that.

Miele S514 Solaris Electro - won't turn on

I don't have the exact same model as you guys, but maybe my situation is similar to yours. My Miele Silver moon model won't turn on one day. I took it to a Miele authorized repair shop ( they all offer free estimate on finding the problem first, then they will tell you what the repair cost will be). They said my vacuum cord reel shim was damaged. The damage was caused by over stretching the cord while I vacuumed. According to them the shim is kind of like a clip that holds the cord inside the vacuum. When the shim is damaged, the cords are pulled apart and electricity can no longer pass through. That would expalin why it won't turn on. The repair cost was not too bad, it costed forty-six dollars. I hope this helps.
