Question about Nikon D70s Digital Camera

1 Answer

No power help i purchased a used d70 yesterday and it worked ok. I didn't know that the monitor on slr digitals dosn't show what you are photographing. Like a fool, i tried to restore the factory default settings and now it wont work at all. There seems to be no power but the battery was working fine and i have recharged it just to make sure. What have i done and can it be repaired? It cost me a fortune and cannot afford to lose it.

I have a Nikon d70 SLR. I had this camera completely cleaned and tuned up 3 months ago. Recently I can not take pictures. The battery powers the camera, but the shutter wont engage. An "error" message...

Read the manual on how to do a two-button reset. Also: from the nNikon Support Page on the D70::
It has come to our attention that select electrical components in a limited number of D70 cameras may, in some instances, fail affecting camera performance and/or operability.
While only a limited number of D70 cameras are affected by this advisory, if (1) when a memory card is inserted, your D70's memory card access lamp blinks, locking camera operations and preventing operation, or (2) with no memory card inserted, the camera will not turn on despite the battery indicator showing a fully charged battery, Nikon Inc. will service it free of charge.
To obtain complimentary service for cameras affected by this advisory, please click the link below to download and print the Service Return Form. The Service Return Form provides return instructions.
The Frequently Asked Questions button at the bottom of this page offers more information about this advisory and, should you have more questions, also provides information about how to contact Nikon.
We apologize for any inconvenience you may experience.

Owners manual for Nikon d70

http://www.nikonusa.com/Find-Your-Nikon/Product-Archive/Digital-SLR/25214/D70.html

The website told me that the d70 has a FAQ section which should have answers to many questions posed by owners of the D70 camera.

The PDF files are not available for download, per se, but answers to questions can be found in links to the above web page.

Problem with Nikon D70

The error code "CHA" is telling you that the CF card you are using for storage is not compatible with the camera. You should consider trying a different card, perhaps a slightly older one that is not as fast.

I use a SanDisk Ultra II card, and that works fine for me.

Nikon D70 flash doenot fire

According to my information, the camera may need a new flash PCB (printed circuit board). Check the repair service search on this site for someone in your area. The part number for the circuit board is: 1S014-020-1 and runs about 50$

Won't focus

There are a number of flexible circuit connectors on the bottom two circuit boards of the D70. Possibly one or more have come loose. The flex connector for the rear LCD panel is also on 1st circuit board (memory compression PCB). You may have a problem with the circuit board itself. There are a lot of possibilities with problems with a digital SLR.Take the camera to a competant repair shop and have them check it out.
