I dont know whats wrong with my TV, its fairly new, I have had it less than a year. It just started turning off by itself today. Now it wont stay on for longer than a few seconds and it turns off, it seems like the VCR is trying to eject a tape maybe, but there isnt a tape in it, and we havent watched a VHS tape in a very long time, as we are rarely home. Please help, is there a way that I could possibly disable my VCR from the combo, so that I dont have to worry with it?
My tv turns off within seconds, not sure whats wrong, any suggestions

If all you want to do is disable the vcr portion turn the set on , install a blank vhs tape it has to be blank or the vcr will try to read it .and the tv and dvd should work fine. this is a timing problem in the vcr deck its not hard to fix but it is a pain.

My Emerson Combo did the same thing it would shut off after a few seconds. But if you have a a VHS tape handy put it in turn on the power and it should pull the tape in. Once the tape is in it will eject the tape leave it in. My TV has been working every since then and I can watch DVD's and tapes. Good Luck!

my tv turns off by its self after 5 sec
My daughter was watching tv this morning when the the tv shut off all by itsself. Now it will not stay on longer than a few seconds. I have tried to put the sleep on and off, I have unplugged it ti get it to reset itself, I have tried to go to the setup menu. But it is only on for a couple of minutes, i don't have time to navagate through any of it.
same problem....how do you fix it?????
Same problem as the rest my tv turns off after about 5 seconds. I have tried a number of things such as turning it on then umpluggin before it shuts itself off. when I plugged it up again it stayed on for about ten seconds but went back in to the 5 second mode again. I tried putting a cd and a cassette in, changing channels, resetting the timer but it goes off before I can do anything with the menu. I took it to a repairman and he said it would not be worth the cost as I could buy another one for a little more on what it would cost to repair because of labor costs. It seems a shame as it works fine but won't stay on.RandyK
when turned on television shuts off after just a second or two being on. will not stay on
My Tv is also a tv/vcr combo and it does just the same thing. It works perfectly for about 5 seconds, then it turns off by itself. I have had mine for about 1 year. Need help also.
I'm having the same exact problem. I power on the television set it comes on the powers off.... I'm starting to think this is a conspiracy..... They should call RECALL!!!!!!
I have the same problem only my tv works until I put in a video tape for the grand boys to watch. Then it wont play, rewind, fast forward or anything. It ejects the tape and cuts the tv off.
