Everything works as advertised from the printer front panel. From usb, ethernet, or wireless connection from Dell XPS 630i, quad, 4mb ram all works, including scanning EXCEPT the fax. When running the HP Director software, the fax dials out, connects, starts the fax transfer, and then stalls. This issue does not exist on an old Dell 8100 p4.
I am patient but HP is no help whatsoever.

SOURCE: HP PSC 2175xi prints, but won't scan
First did you go hp solutions for printer and make sure scanner feature is installed and is turned on. If everything there is ok check at hp.com on your printer model to be sure it will work with vista some printers will only half work with vista. On your lap top if you are having a problem also it sounds as if when you used the disc to install the printer it failed to install the scanner completely. This happens sometimes even though you do everything right. If you think that may of happened all you have to do is inyou control panel uninstall your printer and all of its features than reinstall it watching your screen so if you have to change or reset anything during installation. Good luck.
