I am unable to access the internet from sleep mode Can only get on internet from shut down mode

Three possible causes of sleep mode. first, an extensive screensaver with password lock prevents display. A condition that is observable as a blankscreen also known as sleep mode. Second, a computer power saver settings that shutsdown during idleness. Third, An improper shut down of the computer would have caused a sleep mode to save the system data files.

Restoring the computer to regular functionalioty

First solving predictable sleep mode settings
1. A movement of mouse pointer across the screen should reestablish unprotected password modes
a. password protected sleep mode would display an promp message requiring key code soon after the mouse pointer has changed direction

sloving unpredictable sleep mode settings
1.A computer power saver, screen saver, or splash screen displays prevnting programs acess would require manually powering off the computer system.
a. A manual power back on of the system should restore to program functionality mode

My TV shuts off as soon as I turn it on...What is causing it to do this??

Hi there,

When it shuts off. Try doing what's called a self-diagnostic test. As soon as the television shuts try these steps.

Pressing on the front panel's 'INPUT' and 'MENU' buttons at the same time, and holding for 5 seconds, activates the Self Diagnostic Code Mode. The LED flashes denoting a two digit Error Code, or indicating no problem has occured since the last Initalization.

Note: The front panel buttons must be used, NOT those on the Remote Control.

-The number of flashes indicates the value of the MSD (tens digit) of the Error Code.
-The flashing then pauses for approximately 1/2 second.
-The LED then flashes indicating the value of the LSD (ones digit) of the Error Code.
-The Error Code is repeated a total of 5 times.
-Example: If the Error Code is ?24?, the LED will flash two times, pause, and then flash four
times.

The Error Code designations indicating a malfunction, or no malfunction, are listed below:
Self Diagnostic Code Description
1 - 2 = no error detected
2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current)
2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies)
2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection)
2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source).

My HT-TX75 DVD flashes a message

First thing to do is disconnect all your speakers at the back of the receiver, then turn it back on. If it does not go into protection, post a comment and I can walk you thru troubleshooting. If it still goes into protection, your unit needs to be serviced. Hope this helps

"Protect" error - HTZ110

Home Theater System Is Displaying "Protection" spacer.gif As soon as the unit is turned on, the word "PROTECTION" will flash on the front panel of the unit and SHUT OFF. This error message usually indicates that the fan in the back of the unit is not on.

The PROTECTION feature automatically shuts down the unit to avoid further damage. The unit will need service if this error message is displayed.

Hi I have an Onkyo TX-SR304E. When I try to play music via a dvd/cd player, it lasts for about 20 seconds then shuts off with the STAND BY light flashing on and off. When I try to turn it on , off it goes...

The unit is in protect mode. A problem was detected in the final stage of the amp and the unit shuts down to prevent further damage to either the amp or speakers. Check the speaker wires to be sure that they are not crossed anywhere. If with the sepaker wires disconnected, the amp still enters protect mode, the problem is internal to the amp. This is usually defective output transistors. Expect a parts cost between $15-$40.

Protect

Protect mode will kicking whenever a fault is detected.

Causes that can start protect mode are:

Electrostatic harges on internal circuits.
Leave the unit unplugged for power for one hour or so, this will allow discharge.

Bad speaker wiring.
Check speaker wiring, try unplugging and plugging back, or start after removing one speaker at the time.

Internal fault.
Internal fault is the natural cause for protect mode. If all the above did not work, then the problem is a blown component or an internal fault. In this case the unit must be taken apart , tested and repaired by an experienced person.
If the unit is less than one year old, or if you want to get service, call Sony at the phone number listed on the product documentation.

Regards.

My home theatre system (sAmsung DVD home theatre system HT-Tx75)shuts down automatically after 10 minutes of listening to the radio...it says 'protection', then shuts off. i checked to see if it was on...

Hello,
Protection mode on a Samsung player most likely means that the unit is overheating due to a non or low functioning fan. Before taking it somewhere to be serviced turn the unit on and see if the fan in the back is functioning (it should be on whenever the unit is on). If it is not you can try gently blowing it out with a can of compressed air.
I am sure that you can have it serviced but it might be cheaper to purchase a new player.
Good luck and take Care,
-WN

DVD player froze, now only turns off

Sounds like the power supply in the dvd player has failed. It works just well enough to turn on the led infront but as soon as you go to do anything it shuts off. This is common in cheaper dvd players. Unless you can troubleshoot electronics. Or know someone that can. Your best bet is to unplug the unit and disassemly and retrieve your dvd.
