Hotpoint Ultima WF860 stops every time with 1 second to go

My washer goes through the cycle, Havent actually wacthed it because it is in another room but every time i go to empty it it still has 1 second to go and i have to turn it off. When i open it the clothes havent spun. I have put it back on and it used to finish the second time around , but now it wont go any further than 1 second and the clothes still wet no matter how many times i try. I would be grateful for any suggestions as my washing is piling up if its something my husband could repair.

This problem is caused by the heating element not working. The machine won`t spin & finish because the machine knows it hasn`t heated the water during the wash programe but clock will still count down.this is what we were told by a hotpoint engineer.the callout charge is £89.98 from hotpoint this includes parts & labour. 27/7/07

Hotpoint WF860 drum not turning. Belt checked all ok, no error codes it just fills with water and goes through the cycle filling and emptying when it should and the drum stays still. Can someone help?

ours did the same as this........ it needed a new control board after checking everything you have mentioned. it was a couple of years ago and at that time it was a hotpoint part only. but they can be picked up on ebay for around 30-40 quid.
