White bar on top of screen

My sony tv has a lighted bar on the screen that appears when the screen goes blank. I heard it was called vertical blanking and there is a modification for it. Where do I get this mod and is this common for this 20" tv?

It only 1 bar in the middle horizontal? They Call it Vertical Line, sometime looseboard, defectiveVertical IC, Leak capacitor in vertical section. need a Repairman Tech.

How do I fix a Sony TV that starts then screen goes blank

Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Screen is white blank 2 inches on each side of picture.

Switch to the an input that is not being used. The bars are present, go into the menu and reset the tv to factory settings. If the bars are present it would indicate hardware failure.

If the blank bars are not present on the other input, something is going on with the cord, or a setting in your set top box

Dear amirul abdullah,

This problem most common due to when water goes into cell phone. Your k850i phone LCD screen have problem, you should go into Sony Ericsson service center to replace it.

42" red light on, dim light appears on screen. bulb just replaced

Sony has had alot of problems with the light engines
and your set is DLP. Call Encompass Parts Distrubtion for Part number and Price then go to E-Bay look under Electronics tpye in part number .I have found same Parts Alot cheaper on Ebay,some by as much as $300.00

My 36 inch RCA tv has black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. The color is also dark even in daylight scenes. Can you help with this color.

as a general rule, vertical faults can be divided into two types: ones that cause geometric distortion (a circle will not be round) and those that simply black out a portion of the screen. the former are faults in the vertical oscillator, drive, or output stages. the latter are blanking faults. blanking faults are almost always caused by electrolytic capacitors changing value and thereby changing the timing of the pulses which blank the screen during vertical retrace. In other words, the pulses are turning off the video signals at the wrong time. the most common true vertical fault is geometric distortion and a foldover of white lines at the top of the screen. this is almost always caused by the electrolytic capacitor on or near the collector of the vertical output transistor or part of the IC which has the supply voltage (B+) on it. In the old tube days, the general rule was that bottom distortion was in the cathode of the output tube and distortion at the top was caused by a fault in the drive circuit. this may help the solution!!

Screeen comes on --then goes blank

Your inverter circuit is faulty. This controls the lights inside the screen so you can see what is happening on the LCD panel itself.
If you shine a torch into the LCD from the top at an angle you will still see the images on the screen. But with no light inside to project it outwards, it's dark.

A local TV repair shop should be able to do the reprair fairly cheap, but it's best to make a few phone calls and check they will work on an LCD monitor firstly, and secondly a rough quote.
This is a very common fault with LCD monitors.

Mitsubishis TV Problem

have a Mitsubishi TV 1993. Model CS-35301. The problem is that there is a white line that is running through a blank screen. The sound is fine just no picture. Have you heard of "Vertical Collapse?" I would love to save the TV. Hi nothing to worry just minimise brightness to avoid screen burn. "Vertical Collapse?" means one bright hor.line in the middle of screen. this problem can be solved 1 check vertical yoke connector or wire loose 2 check supply to vertical section which normally comes from EHT transformer check components in vertical section or print loose regards thanks
