Question about Canon PowerShot Cameras
I bought this camera in 2008, from then i have taken more than 8000pictures, last few months the battery of the camera is getting drained, i have 8 rechargeable battery, which ever battery i change it shows battery change, kindly advice on the actual problem so that i can take a decision to repair or not
If the batteries are the same age as the camera, they are probably worn out. Try replacing them.

SOURCE: camera batteries drain quickly
Open the battery door and check the contact between the camera and the batteries. Most often then not there is just a bad contact and it's ruinning your baterry life.
Make sure that the contact are well placed and that there is no rust or dirt build up around there.

the camera will work with any brand of lithium but only the KLIC 8000 battery will work as a rechargeable
please look at your getting started guide and check page 1, there's an illustration of the 3 types of batts that will work:
lithium crv3, lithium aa and klic 8000
ni-mh is really not compatible
please check at the bottom of your camera, the three types of batts I mentioned are engraved at the battery door
thank you

SOURCE: Batteries keep dying
Camera was still under warranty & I sent it back to Canon after calling them. Service was incredibly fast. They found the optical assembly inoperative & focus not operating properly. They also sent battery recommendations. I think I am going to try the rechargables. They recommend: Panasonic Alkaline Gold, Duracell Ultra, and Canon Ni-MH. Will let you know how it works out. Thanks for the help as well.

SOURCE: CAMERA battery low message with new batteries
I have the same problem with mine!! Had it about 14 months now too!! Glad I'm not the only one... I don't know what to do! I have gotten brand new rechargeable batteries and instead of getting 250 shots, I only get like 20!

I have the same problem too. It's just started happening. The camera is about 3 years old. I've cleaned the battery contact points with an eraser and ensured there's contact. All seems fine. I only get about 5 shots out of brand new AA batteries, then a black screen with message 'change the batteries'. Can anyone help?
