Lines in screen

I purchased a Panasonic PT-47WX49E 4 years ago. I have lines across the screen. It almost looks like a vertical hold problem. The number and size of the lines vary, but always go completely across the screen from right to left. I think what contributed to this problem was the fact that i had the TV in a room of the house that was in direct sunlight. It was a sun room with no shade, and I was completely stupid to place the set there. The tv shuts off on it's own if it gets hot, but not from where it is. the fact that it was in a bad area made it perform like this. As long as I keep a small fan behind the tv, it'll work fine. My only real concern is the lines in the screen. I hope you can help me here. Can you give me a part # and a place to purchase the part. I live in New Hampshire. john

Would you use the same replacement parts (C7136 and C7154) for PT-47WX51E? I have the same exact issue, but a different model than the PT-47WX49 identified by the original poster.

Replace C7136 and C7154. They are both very leaky if not open. It is a common symptom with this model. I think they are 47 mic. caps. at 16 volts.

Pink and green diagonal lines rollng across the screen??? panasonic 42" Plasma . Only purchased about 3 years ago - but been used very rarely.

Have you tried lifting the ground on the TV? That set has a grounded (3-prong) plug and sometimes sccrolling lines can be caused by a ground loop in your power lines. Are the green and purple lines very short, like just a few rows of pixels tall, or multiple inches, like 3 - 8 tall?

Vertical lines across screen on my panasonic tv PT-61LCX65

Try setting a portable fan aimed toward the cooling vents on the back of the set. If this eliminates or reduces the occurance of the lines, this means a circuit that controls the off/on of individual pixels has developed a thermal problem. This circuit is ordinarily loacted on the main circuit board and is likely to degrade further. You might inquire at the Panasonic service center if they have an exchange program in place and they will probably be able to confirm my suspicions.

Horizontal white lines across top of TV screen

Vertical hold circuit is failing.

Check capicitor in vertical hold circuit. You should have solid knowledge of electronics repair before attemping repair. TV's can emmit harmful radiation, and produce voltages up to or in excess of 30kV.
