Either the power supply is bad (has died) or the power unit in your laptop is bad. Try another power supply if possible. If not you'll need to open up your computer and replace the power supply unit.

My sony vio p530h is not turning on

Here's the most common issue I run into with these little laptops when people bring them in: The power supply.

1. Flip the computer itself upside down and look for what voltage and amperage it's rated at. I think it's 10.5v by 1.9A. Now look at your charger, does it have those same specs? If you have an after market charger, it may have been lumped in with it simply because it fit in the jack, which stinks.

If the voltages/amperages do not match, take it straight to a repair shop and see what they can do. Something's been fried. Even under powering it can cause massive issues.

2. Make sure your power supply actually works. If it has a light on it anywhere that used to turn on when you plugged it in, look to see if it still does. If this doesn't help, take the charger to an electronics repair shop and have them test it. If none exists, cross your fingers and go into a Radio Shack. They have all the equipment needed to test this, but they may or may not do it for you - it entirely depends on their mood that day.

3. If it's out of warranty, or whatever, and you think it might be worth putting a few dollars into, pick up a generic charger for it on the cheap just to give it a go. I found one here
Amazon com Super Power Supply AC DC Laptop Adapter Charger Cord for... for about twenty bucks. I also found a car charger that was 8 dollars cheaper (we're just looking to see if the adapter was the problem after all)
UpBright Car Adapter For Sony VAIO Lifestyle VGP VGN Series VGN P530H... Look around more yourself and you will most likely find one of these even cheaper than I did, I only spent about 20 seconds looking.

4. If the power supply is not the issue and all the voltages and amperages match up.. Well, unless you've got some cool equipment and mad soldering skills (which you may very well have! I don't know) you could be in some trouble. Check around town for a computer repair shop that works on laptops. Compare prices with what Sony tells you over the phone for their own "in house" repair center.

I hadn't charged my Sony Vaio model PCG-61611L for a couple days. Then when I finally plugged it in to charge, it won't turn on. I even left it plugged in for a few days and still nothing. It has...

Try A Hard Reset

Remove the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord from your Sony Vaio laptop, press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to discharge any residual current inside the laptop.

This clears your RAM and is like a hardware reset.

Replace the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord
and turn your laptop on.

If that does't work try removing ram and reinstall. Sometime this works with these laptops.

The screen won't open. nothing is working

you mean even power light is not on? try to do power drain by removing the battery and charger then press the power button for a minute then plug back in the charger then try to turn it on..if it is still not turning on it could be a LCD issue or motherboard.

Sony VGN-FW170J Not Turning On. Power supply good, tested with multimeter & with another laptop. No LED light, lighting up when connected to power supply, also tried with and without battery. Nothing...

If the PSU is good and there is no lights coming on when you either plug in the charger or attempt to turn on the machine then it's simply the motherboard.

There is a good chance that a few transistors blew out. Laptop repair or even motherboard replacement is very expensive. If the computer is still under warranty then take advantage of the product defect and get it repaired or replaced.

My sony vaio labtop doesnt charge any more unless i use my hand to support where the charger cable connects the labtop.

This must be a loose DC Port Issue. If the system is still under warranty, you can call Sony and they can repair it for you.

My sony vaio vgn-fs285e will not switch on since this morning. Even if the AC adapter is plugged-in it still won't come on. None of the lights come on, it won't run with the battery pack or just AC power....

Hi,
To check if the problem is the power adaptor or the Vaio, just have a look at the charger itself and see if the green light on the adaptor itself is on?If yes, then more likely it is working fine. If no light, change the fuse in the plug and try again.
You can also try a static discharge on the Vaio. Please remove all external devices, unplug the adaptor and remove the battery. Put your finger on the power button and hold it for about 30 seconds. Then connect the power adaptor again and try to boot.
Regards,
Purito
