Blury lines in the picture / no picture / intermitent no control

This problem is just really upseting as its a relativley new tv. The picture gets some lines in it, all three colors and in a diamond pattern that is irratic. if i jossle the tv around or bang on the circuit board the picture comes back for a whyle. the problem reoccures unfortanatly. does any one have a better fix than to keep beating up the tv set.

I looked at the board pretty close. The only spot I seen that was obvious was the loose connection where the attenna housing mounts to the main PCP. it appearedto be just the mounting that came loose. there are still three solid to the board. I did not think this had any bearing on the problem. I called a repair guy trying to get info and he mentioned a depression board? does this sound like a viable solution? I unpluged all cables and plugs to make sure there were good connections. I think i may take the boards out again and re inspect. Can you pinpoint me to the correct circuit board to look for trouble. there are three. main power, Depression? and the main PCP if thats correct. I have now been getting blips of color lines red blue green that turn into the full blur cross diamond pattern. the banging of the board still corrects the problem temporaly.

Hello I have new news regarding the problem with my TV. The problem is fixed. I took the advice I recieved about hte circuit board and looked over it very closely. I found that some gel had leaked onto the circuit board and coroded two wired on the board. once I cleaned the mess off the board and put it all back together. The TV works fine now. I believe that some of the cooling gel around the green tube leaked out causing the problem. I hope that this will help someone else.

Is great you have already found the place to hit and get the picture back,is a loose conectiont that need resoldering before it gets worst or damages something,be ateentive were you hit and flip the crcuit board, the broken solder joints should be easy to spot. If you are not too familiar with tv service seek the help of a servicer and tell them what you do to make it work, the repair should not be xpensive since you already diagnose the problem.Good luck

Your rating response is also important.

Even if only one of the mounts is loose can give you problems,it could be the one that conects the ground to the other three,it should be resoldered regarless, resolder anything that does not look right. You already know you have a loose conection.

Poor Picture

Hello,

It's a convergence issue. Go into the main TV menu under video settings and look for convergence. If it has an auto convergence select that and wait a minute the TV will adjust itself and give you a clear picture.
If the TV does not have an auto convergence and just regular convergence than select this. It will give you a grid pattern on your TV and you have to move the curser (using TV remote) and adjust each "point" so that each line is perfectly white. If you notice red or blue anywhere on that "line" then you have to adjust using the up, down, left and right arrow keys to "line up the red and blue lines with the nearest white line. It taked time and patience to do, but when completed, all lines on the grid pattern should be pure white and you will have a great looking picture.
You have to do this will all TV inputs (Video1, Video2 and so on) the reason Zoom looks good, is because you never used that screen as much and so the lenses didn't have a chance to get out of synch.
RPTV's are made of the three lenses (red, Blue and Green) and as you watch TV, these lenses slowly get out of alignment. So you should do a convergence about twice a year to make sure nothing is out of whack.
Hope this help....

Mitsubishi Diamond Series T.V.

When a tv (Rear proyection) shows this coloration is the meanning that the red color is not there (the red color is generated by a red CRT). Now it can be really bad not having the tube working but before conclution make sure of this: (and if the red color gets back then the tube is ok)
  • is this condition the same in all inputs? or the picture looks ok with a different video source (VCR, DVD other)
  • are the menu letters same as the picture looks or are they fine?
If we cannot see any red color back with this testing, still chances that a technician find an electronic problem that make the tube to be off. so don't rush conclusions and get to the end to save the tv with out replacing the red tube, but if all was done and nothing then the tv needs the tube replacing.

The vertical height driver that controls the height of your picture has weakened and needs to be adjusted. If you are somewhat handy you can do this yourself. It requires that you gain access to back of the set & remove the cover. Once removed, locate the vertical height & centering adjustments. Sometimes they are located on the main board & other times are located on the color gun driver circuit board that is plugged into the end of the picture tube.
