2000 Town Car. This is the 3rd time that I have problems with one of the wires going to the brake light switch in less than 3 years. Was there a recall referencing this problem, or just a coincidence, or what? There is more than enough wire to prevent any kind of stress on the wires when I depress the brake pedal.
The wire is not really burned or anything like that, It tends to break right behind the end of the connector.
Is there a permanent (or at least a better resolve) solution to my problem?
1999 Lincoln town car signature, the brake pedal switch went out and I need to know how to change it and put a new one in...
They make a repair connector in the aftermarket, call Ford parts and see if they have one or can get one from a supplier, other than that I am not aware of any Factory fix, I worked on Ford's 20 years at a dealer, saw this allot, esp on cars used in stop and go traffic like city driving.

Same here on Wifes 2000 LTC. I jacked with it for about 20 minutes and decided the cut the other wire off the connector. Used
two plastic insulated crimp connectors for now. The disadvantage is you loose the locking clip. I guess I will check for an aftermarket repair connector next. I would say the wire is too short and there should have
been an extra inch or two with a strain relief to boot!
I have a 2000 LTC that the brake light wire keeps shorting. I've had it repaired more than three times. They keep just replaicng the switch, but now they say there's a short somewhere and I need to take it to the dealer to find it. They say they have no idea how long it will take to find the short or how much it will cost...
