MDS-JE320 Hello,     I have the same problem with my MDS-JE320 that was brought up by that other guy. It makes a loud clicking noise when no disc is inserted and it also reads every disc as PROTECTED even if it isn't protected. Is there a quick fix for this or should I just trash the unit, after all it is old technology.

The loading mechanism needs to be repaired or replaced. This is a common fault. Unfortunately, this is not a really cheap fix. Usually the loading carriage needs to be replaced at a cost of about $40 or so/

Dan, I wonder where could I find someone to repair the Sony MD Deck Player in Singapore.

  • Anonymous Nov 10, 2010

I am located in the US and can't really help much. You need to locate an authorized Sony servicer. They will have access to the service information required to repair this. Parts are still available for these units (at least in the US).

Is there any other remote that will work with Sony Mini Disc Player & recorder model mds je-320

Most Sony MD remotes will operate most functions on this unit, almost all of the Sony MD remotes are available on ebay even the rare ones.

I have humming noise from earphones connection Minidisc MZ -N1

Are you using an AC adapter, or running it on batteries? If 'wall-wort' AC adapter, that's the issue. If you're running it on batteries, sounds like a bad ground, try different earphone/headphones and see if the hum goes away. With the 2nd pair of headphones/earphones, does the hum go away, or if you wiggle the headphone jack back and forth a little bit?

MD player windows keep saying "no disc" when a disc is inserted. This started after the door starting getting sticky opening and closing. Any help would be great. Thanks

The little switch that detects the disc is inserted goes bad quite often on all of these sony home MD recorders. Do an online search as I have seen a step by step approach on it's repair. Make sure to UNPLUG the unit before removing any covers and poking-around inside. Good luck,

Sony minidisc MDS-JE320 Clicking problem

Hi,

you seem yo have a problem with the disk positioning/insertion switch, the switch may have become misaligned or it has become intermittent. The switch is located on one of the circuit boards that is attached to the drive mechanics. It may not be easy to get to it without dissembling the entire player. You may want to download the service manual and have a look to see the placement of the switch. Here is a similar player service manual for your reference.

Hope this helps you.

Cheers

3 connection leads inside

These are ground wires and can be attached to the chassis anywhere where they will fit.

Clicking noise

Yup, you are right, the plastic gears are broken. You can buy new once and install them yourself or find a local repair shop that can do this for you.
