Oven won't shut off

I used the self-clean feature on my oven more than 24 hrs ago. It will self- clean for 4 hrs. I turned the oven off with only 36 mins left on the timer. This morning I noticed it was still very warm in the kitchen. The oven was off according to the dial. It was never turned on again since yesterday morning, but upon opening the oven door, I was blasted with immense heat. The oven was still on! I turned the dial 360 degrees back to the off setting, no help. The light, letting me know the oven was on ,lit as I turned the dial. So I unplugged the oven from the wall. Help? Why did this happen? What could be the problem? The oven was purchased in 1996-97 and is a Hotpoint RB787, if that helps.

Tes, sounds like the relays on the board welded shut or the selector is bad. Looks like the clock and selector are all one unit. If you post a complete model number I can give you a part number and you can look it up on the net to get a price. Catriver..post back.

No heat on convection or self clean

If you have been using the self clean feature, you have probably burned out or damaged the connections to the fan and the convection fan element or thermistor. NEVER EVER use the self clean feature.

Were you using the dreaded 'Self Cleaning' cycle?

Number one tip, never ever use the self cleaning cycle. The oven locks, wiring and sometimes even the hob wiring can't cope with 1,200'F.

GE PS950SF1SS, self clean no longer works for either oven. After starting self clean door will lock but the self clean cycle shuts off after 30 seconds, same for either oven

The self clean function is a way for the makers to get revenue from broken parts and lulling you into thinking you get a clean oven. The typical things to break are elements, fans, door locks and control boards. Your either has a broken lock and isn't passing the self check, or the control board has failed. The temperature is just too harsh. If the oven works, get a can of Easy Off. If you want to use the feature, you will need to get a service

Self cleaning ovens

Perhaps it hasn't cooled down enough; or you may have to run the self-cleaning cycle again. The oven has to reach a certain temperature before it starts to turn the residue to ash.You may have interrupted its cycle.

It then has to cool off sufficiently to safely open the door.

I need my kitchen aid oven to unlock

NEVER use the self cleaning feature - again!!

Sounds like my problem two days ago. I have a Kitchen Aid free standing gas oven/range model
KGRI801PWH00. I read online that the thermo-fuse might've blown. I found the thermo-fuse after removing the rear panel. It was at the top/center. Mine is T-O-D (brand) 60F24; Westinghouse #8300802. I ordered mine from appliancepartspros.com for only $34.75; arrived in 36 hrs with regular shipping!! Easy to fix, sure beats several hundred $$ to repairman.

Don't bother to call Kitchen Aid - they'll just blow you off just like the hundreds of complaints said that I found online.

Your thermal fuse or TOD mounted to the back of the oven went out during the self clean,it shuts off the power to the elements.
The oven must be removed from the wall to change this.
