Image on the screen freezes and camera won't respond.
I have had my camera for about 3 years. Recently I started haveing trouble with it so I replaced the battery, but that has not solved the problem. The camera will turn on and sometimes take a few photos but then the image on the screen seems to freeze and I can't get the camera to do anything, I can't even turn it off. I then have to pop the battery out and put it in again then turn on the camera and I might be ok for a few more shots. Any idea if it is worth it to repair this problem or should I consider a new camera?

When having bright lights on a dark background, you can have horizontal lines. That is supposed to be normal. but the camera should give good pictures in bright light. Try setting the camera in automatic. most of the time it is the green camera loge on the mail dial.
I am assuming it is a TTL (Through The Lens) Viewfinder meaning a mirror, Prism and screen gives you the image. This is based on reality and not any settings. This question confuses me. If something gets in the way and the viewfinder darkens AND the image you take is dark this means there is something very wrong with the lens and possibly with the camera. The Viewfinder image is what bounces off a mirror and when you take the photo the mirror flips out of the way. What is left is the lens, some air space and the sensor. It may be that one of the aperture blades may be moving when it should not. I am close to saying send the lens in and ask for a quote..
Your camera seems to have ccd chip problem. Image chips goes bad sometimes and when you play recorded image it is ok but when you want to turn on the camera to take picutures, you'll see scrambled image or no image at all. The remedy for this symptom requires a replacement of ccd chip. The average repair for ccd problem is $100-$130 in the repair market. -James
i have hear clearing out the PS3 by turning it on then turning it upside down (when it is standing like a tower). This will make the fans run really loud. Let it run for like 3 - 5 minutes and it should clean it self out. I have never tried this but i have seen it done.
Defective ccd imager!! company will replace this ccd imager free of charge. Year 2002 up to 2005 released unit has a factory defect ccd imager. the company recalled those units and replaced with a stronger version of ccd imager ( they are still doing it). check it out.
