go to page 28 , changing the toner.
the dummy is put in by the manufacture in place the real toner.
the puff you have encounter tell me that the toner is not seated correctly, that cause the toner to leak out on to the machine.
what you need to do is pull out the toner, very slowly, and try clean up the toner area and any other place the toner can get to. ( best suggestion- use compress air.)
take a look at the manual, make sure all the sensor are clean. otherwise, you will get error when you turn on the printer.
then replace with a new toner.

I finally figured out how to change the toner but now I am haunted by a red light that won't go away! I actually just pulled the cartridge out and put it back in. The only change from doing that was the big "poof" of black toner everwhere~!
Could you also explain to me what the dummy cartridges are for?
