Question about Mitsubishi Diamond Plus 73 17" CRT Monitor
I have a Mitsubishi Daimond Plus 73 CRT monitor. Upon turning it on it sequences between white and black screens with evenly spaced 1-1/4" x 1-1/2 inch rectangles. If the screen is white the outlining rectangle lines are black, if the screen is black, the lines are white. It doesn't matter if it is plugged into the computer or not, it still shows the same thing. Is there anything I can do to get an input, or do I need a new monitor? I would appreciate any help. Thanks....Alan
Mitsubishi list this problem and has a solution of replacing several small surface mounted caps and diodes. we have tried this repair 5 times and only successfully done it once. so replacing what is called the formatter board part # 930B924002 for around $ 350.00 usually repairs this type of failure, However changing this board is a time consuming thing and takes a lot of Patience. It is buried deep in the set and several other board have to be removed just to get to it

Usually when there are colored lines on the LCD its because the screen is going bad. Quick way to verify this, try a different monitor on your computer and if the line goes away then you know for sure the monitor is bad.
If you try a different monitor and the line remains then you know that the video card is bad.

Check the white rectangular ceramic fuses on the FMT board. You blew one of them so there's power missing to some of the circuitry.

Bad capacitors and probably a surface-mount fuse on the Formatter board.
There will probably be bad caps on all five boards within the chassis.
