Shirlee, you might not have the refer leveled right. The doors should close by themselves when released. Have someone bring the front levelers down so it is pitched back a little. This should eliminate the freezer door staying open. This is caused by the rush of air from the lower compartment to the upper compartment during closing.

When I OPEN the refrigerator door, it starts cooling the freezer and refrigerator. When I CLOSE the door, it stops. How can this happen??

When you open the door, all the cold air tumbles out, so the fridge starts up to replace the cold air. As you close the door it is running, but you can't hear it. One it gets to temperature, it stops. It can sometimes do this is seconds.

If it was truly stopped, everything would be defrosted in the freezer and everything in the fridge would be warm.

Why does my refrigerator short out when I open the left door?

Something in the left door is shorting to ground. The constant movement of the door has worn thru a wire/wire bundle and that wire is touching metal.

I have top freezer LG refrigerator (I have it for a week, so it's a brand new). When I close refrigerator door the freezers door bounces opens and closes). Hoe to fix this problem?

When you close the door, the air pushed in by the door has to do somewhere, so it may momentarily pop the other door. As long as it closes right away by itself, no problem.

Freezer is working but refrigerator is not

My Maytag (side by side) had a similar problem, turns out to be the damper door. The freezer does the cooling, there's a damper door between the fridge and freezer that opens and closes to control fridge temp. Find the damper door and prop it open. If the fridge temp drops overnight, you'll need a new damper ***'y.

I have a top freezer. Whenever the refrigerator door is closed, the freezer door pops open. There appears to be a good seal around each door... How do I keep the freezer door from poping open, when...

Replace the seals. It may appear to be in good shape but what is happening is the compressed air from closing the refer door is going up and releasing the seal on the freezer I would replace the freezer seal first as that should solve your problem.

Bottom drawer does not properly close

Okay, I fixed it for now. The design for this bottom freezer drawer is not good. What happened was most likely that my son slammed the door, and it bounced and was slightly open. Overnight, ice started to form all over the compartment, including inside the drawer guides. Some ice was probably obstructing the drawer glide from sliding shut.

What I did, not thinking this was the solution, was to prop chairs against the drawer to close it while I searched for answers on the Internet. In the meantime, some of this ice must have refrozen in the closed position (due to the weight of the chairs). When I went to check it later, I had a little trouble opening the drawer. I gave it a hard yank and some small frost flew off, as I opened the drawer.

It was not easy sliding it due to the frost. I then moved it out and in until it felt smooth, and finally closed the drawer and it stayed in the shut position.

Kids are instructed to close the drawer gently and visually check that it is sealed. There is also an air passage between the refrigerator unit and the freezer so that when you close the double french doors, some air pushed to the freezer section and momentarily pops the drawer open. You should make sure that the drawer closes before leaving the kitchen. If you are on vacation, prop chairs to make sure both the freezer drawer and the french doors stay closed. This is important if you're in an earthquake area as a small tremor could open the doors and you'll get a fire when the lights stay on and burn through the wiring (as others have noted).

Frost inside freezer door

there is a small electric heater along the door gasket where you see the frost building up, this heater has apparently stopped working. this will also cause the door to pop open due to a poor seal. feel around where the door gasket contacts the refrigerator and it should feel a little warm. if not then a service company can replace those heaters. should not be too expensive.

Freezer Door Popping Open

Look at the bottom of the freezer door, there is a little plastic stopper there. It may be worn out or broken. When you close the door this is what holds it there. Start there first.
