''Twain is Missing'' keeps coming up - can't scan from printer

I have an iMac G5 computer; and an HP Deskjet 5510 printer. I cannot scan,  and message "Twain is Missing" keeps coming up on monitor. Can you help me?
Should I download a new driver - and if so, how do I do that? I need detailed instructions, in terms I can understand.

Download appzapper , you get 5 free goes with it. Drag your old HP software onto it and it will find all the hidden files. Zap it. Hopefully this will have delete all HP related files.

Download the latest files from HP for your Mac. If you do this first AppZapper will delete this as well, so you'll only have to download it again.

So basically, you're deleting all the old files for HP Deskjet 5510 printer and installing all new ones.

Can't print from HP 2540 aio to my Imac PowerPc G5 OS X 10.5.8 The Imac keeps telling that the printer is offline.

A quick look at the HP web site for this printer shows that it only supports Max OS X 10.6 and later. These versions only support the intel processor based macs. Your PowerPC mac is, unfortunately, obsolete as far as Apple and the peripheral manufacturers are concerned and is not supported.

I get a message that my HP 5500 is not connected to my new iMac but the printer says it is connected. How to solve?

The printer says that it is connected correctly to the router because the router is aware of it and has assigned to it an IP address on the network.
The computer on the other hand does not know that there is a printer. Not finding one (or not knowing where to look for it) the computer reports that the printer is offline.
You must install the printer drivers on the computer.

Just purchased an iMac computer for my HP DeskJet 880C

You can log on to the hp site and get the current driver/printer software for your printer. Get the mac os version and install via usb. Download and install then restart your imac... then attempt a print...
Should work fine with an iMac.

My HP F4280 Deskjet All-In-One does not scan!

Under Control Panel, click System, than click hardware, than click device manager.

Uninstall USB Controllers, and than unplug the USB cord from back of the PC.

Once the USB controllers have been uninstalled, restart your PC.

Once the PC has been restarted, put the USB Cable back into the PC, and let the Operating system reinstall the drivers.

This should reinstall all drivers such as twain, usb, etc..

My hp 5510 all-in-one won't scan photos

Unfortunately the 5510 is no longer supported by HP for OS X 10.5.x and up. On the Apple tech site, they actually redirect you to a page the HP upgrade page (read: buy a new one).

If anyone can think of any 3rd part software that works with this, please post!

Thanks!

I am having trouble scanning with my hp printer.

You may try restarting your computer with your printer connected and turned off, or ensure that you choose officejet 5510 series and not 5510 twain in the scanner wizard. If this does not help, try reinstalling the printer from scratch.
