Question about Mitsubishi WD-52525 52" Rear Projection HDTV
When I turn on our TV the picture will stay on for 5 minutes (each time get shorter) then picture goes out. Power light is still on. The remote or manual on/off button will not turn off the TV. We have to unplug the tv from the power source to get the power button off. When we plug it back in it does the same thing. Is this something we would be able to have repaired or would it be more cost effective to purchase a new tv?
This sounds like a lamp cooling problem - maybe the lamp is faulty, but more likely the fan may have failed - this should be cheap and easy to have fixed. Possibly the problem is with damage to the main circuit board, which would be more expensive to repair but should never come to more than about 40% of the cost of a new one. here is the link to the manual http://www.hdtvsolutions.com/pdf/MIT_WD-52525_WD-62525_WD-52725_WD-62725_Manual.pdf there may be something in it you can spot yourself that sheds more light on the problem. I would always recommend getting a set like this repaired - it is a good set and up to date. Hope this helps :)
