After having my desktop e-machine t2200 switched on for only 5mins it switched itself off and has refused to power up again since. I was told that it could be a motherboard problem as apparently that is a common fault with e-machines, however i changed that and still got the same problem. the green light on the motherboard is illuminated when connected to the power cable. All power cables and supply sockets have been checked but the pc refuses to power up. Could someone please offer me some help and advice.........getting really cheesed off with it all now but dont want to through it away when it could be a simple problem that i have overlooked. Thank-you shaz
Is it possible for you to check the power supply unit, as it could still show its powering the board but is incapable of powering all the other components. I am surprised you managed to get hold of a AMD Athlon (Socket 7 or A) motherboard, they are old hat know as the AMD Sempron in the successor to your processor. These are only about £15.00 and probably a 500W one would be better than the 350W one your PC probably has. If it's not the PSU then you are looking at a processor fault, again only about £30.00 with the heat sink and fan.
