No sound and no picture.

My TV cut off and when I tried to turn it back on it had no sound or picture yet there was a low whistle click noise and the power button on the tv would light up when tv was on. How can I fix this myself. I'm very handy with electronics.

I have a similar problem. Have sound but no picture

My unit does exactly the same thing. Mine sort of chirps and there is no pic or sound, but the light on the power button is on.I already had it fixed once for the convergence problem. (cost me over $200) Would love to fix it myself if I can. If not, I will go to WalMart and buy a flat screen 42" for $800 instead of paying another $200+ on this one.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Look for the vertical output, it should be a 7 pin transistor located on the defection board, meaning the board with the highvoltage transformer on it. Should be on a heat shield standing up(black)

It sounds that the horizontal output section circuit to your TV is to be checked. It is really a skilled work. Contact any service technician.

My 12 year old Sony KP-53V80 TV suddenly turned off and will not show a picture just a small rainbow at the top of the screen, then a whistling sound, crack and turns back off. can you help?

sounds like the inverter went bad...There's a high voltage device in there that runs the whole "picture" thing. There are capacitors involved with it that have probably failed leading to this mess.. That would be what that "crack" is...If you try to turn it back on does it just "click " and then stay off?

My 32v434t television.

The TV was making the clicking noise and not turning on because an internal error was being detected.
Now things had got worse , and something had blown inside the TV.
The burning smell and high pitched noise is coming either from Flyback transformer or PSU board. Repair is a delicate matter and must be done by a technician.

TV screen wont turn on but just a loud noise coming from the tv

I think maybe the G-board needs to be replaced. A TV shop will have to repair it. They normally start around $200.00

Occasional 'whistling/whining' from back of TV

I wonder if there is enough air circulating around your equipment?? My DVD recorder makes a sound unless I open the doors on the cabinet that contains all of my equipment. The cable company says it is a fan to cool down the units.

Continuous low whistling or thin buzzing noise

The high pitched sound is an indication that theres a short most likly in the Hi voltage sweep section or power supply and with out the proper training you should not even take off the back as there are no user replaceable parts inside of these sets. All the parts are soldered in and you can not look at them and see that they are bad.. its almost like when your check engine light comes on you look but what do you see without a computer to read the on board computer vto see what the problem(s) are. Take the set into or call a pro to assist you with this repair. good luck
