SOURCE: Acer 5100 lost dvd/cd drive

Is the DVD drive listed in device manager under CD/DVD drives at all? If so, remove it and reboot. Windows might be able to re-detect and reinstall the drivers for it, but odds are the drive is bad. You can try removing the drive from the computer, and use compressed air to blow out the area where it connects to the laptop. Also check the connection on the DVD drive to make sure there isn't any physical damage, bent pins, etc.

Hope this helps - remember to rate!

Acer 5515 cd drive not working

First open the "Device Manager" to check for any error messages related to the device and click on "Start" and select "Control Panel" .

Now double-click on the "System" icon then click on the "Hardware" tab and click the "Device Manager" button. A new window appears, and displays whether the device is working properly. If there are any errors, click the "Troubleshoot" button and follow the given onscreen instructions.

Check the CD that you are trying to use to and ensure that it is free of dirt and scratches and the proper format compatible with your drive.

Now uninstall any drivers that may be on your computer from previous DVD drives.

Now download the latest driver updates for your CD drive model from manufacturer website & install it.

Also check on manufacturer website that your machine has the minimum requirements to operate the drive.

Now restart your computer & check your CD drive.
I hope issue has been resolved.

As i try to install a windows 7 on my acer aspire 4736z laptop i get a message "cd/dvd drive device driver is missing" help me

Go to this link and download the USB/DVD tool. You'll need to copy the files from the DVD to a USB drive. When you've completed that step you'll need to get into your BIOS and configure the machine to boot from the Usb drive. From there you can load the operating system without worrying about CD drivers.

ACER ASPIRE 3750G 13.3", reformat.

when you turn the unit on hit Alt+F10. This will access the acer recovery partition from which you can restore. This is provided you didn't replace the Hard drive or wiped the drive yourself

CD player will not work

Try a different CD. iIf the computer doesn't recognize it at all, listen for the drive to spin and look for a blinking light on the CD tray. These signs do not necessarily mean the CD drive isn't broken. I would find the model number of your laptop and do a search on eBay for a replacement CD drive. These are very easy to switch out. If the new one works, then you're set. If it doesn't work, there may be an issue with your motherboard.

My acer aspire timeline 4820T disc drive is switched of and nor recognised, how do i turn it back on.

Go to your windows start bar, and search for "device manager". From there, you're looking for DVD/CD ROM drives. Chances are that this driver has been corrupted, click on your driver in the drop down from that section. Go to the "driver" tab, and you will see some options... if you're lucky, you'll see an option that says "Enable". If that isn't there, try clicking "update driver". If your DVD/CD ROM driver isn't even there, you can reinstall it free from the Acer website. Cheers!

CD Driver not being recognized, went into device manager and under device status it says, "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (code 39)

this is a tough one. I found this at acer:Optical Drive
8X DVD-Super Multi double-layer drive or DVD/CD-RW Combo
(varies by model)

The bad news is the part where it says varies by model. You will need the exact model of the drive to get the proper driver for it. My advice is to take it to an Acer shop and ask them to identify the cd drive for you.

My Laptop no longer recognizes that it has a DVD/CD drive

If you can, remove unit from laptop and start laptop without CD/DVD. It is usually fairly simple to remove. Maybe a few screws in bottom of laptop. Cut off laptop and reinstall. Restart and windows should find it.

Acer aspire 5315 laptop cd/dvd drive stop working like there was none

This will be one of two things, 1- a driver glitch, you will need to uninstall the drivers for the cd/dvd drive from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the drive and reinstall the drivers automatically. This will fix it if it's a driver problem. You can also try any updated driver utilities, or patches for the drive from Acer's support site. 2- the cd/dvd drive has failed and needs replaced. These are basically plug and play devices, they either work or they don't, so a majority of the time when the machine stops recognizing the drive, it's because the drive has malfunctioned. Unfortunately, these drives are considered sealed units and replacement parts aren't available.
