My device gives this error, but I didn't insert a device, and I cannot print because of this error. The error is in the little screen of the printer. What can I do to remove this error? (I already tried removing my cartridges and the usb cable to my computer.)

first of all never use a napkin to clean any electrical devices. Napkins can hold a static charge.Plus as you use the napkin little pieces of it could get stuck between the terminals. Add a little moisture and it spells disaster. For the solution what I would do first is unhook your printer. Shut the power off and unplug it. Then go into your add remove programs and remove all the software and drivers for your printer. You will also want to double check its gone by going into my computer and seeing if under printers your printer is listed. Then what i would do is get a registry cleaner there are many of them on the net to download. This will fix any registry problems that could be causing a error. After running the cleaner then reinstall your printer. Make sure you install it like the manufacture has listed, each printer is diffrent on how it is installed. Once you load the software and plug it in use the utilites software that comes with your printer and test a print page.

I have never had a problem like yours. But it looks like there is nothing wrong w/ the USB cable, the printer or your PC. So the only area left would be the software printer drivers in the PC. Have you tried uninstalling the canon printer drivers and re-installing them? I am not sure but I think the problem might be more software than hardware. Some of the files may have gotten corrupted. Let me know if this helps.

Ok IF you have performed all those tests and done exactly as you say, then i can say 100% for sure that the printer has faulty electronics. I have seen this type of symptom countless times in my shop over the years and always indicates the internal electronics, often but not always the USB interface port electronics, but it can be anything in fact.
You will have to be careful as to repair as the cost of such, will/may quickly rise to the cost of a new printer with a warranty.
get it looked at by the professionals ask FIRST for a "Quote" ONLY and go from there if costings are acceptable, else get a new unit.
