Issues that could bring up the white screen problem on your computer can include a bad video graphics card or the graphics card is bad. Or blown capacitors or the video card is not working. Try and reboot your computer first to see if the problem goes away.

Suggest connecting monitor to another computer and confirm defect. If problems reoccurs and cables are confirmed OK replace.

If it does then your computer power supply is good, and if you computer doesn't boot but you can hear power going to the power supply, then your video card has died and a replacement for your video card is due. You have computer problem, you can easily verify by using this monitor with another PC or another monitor with this PC.
It may be video card driver problem, since the PC was not properly shutdown, it will give you that message "boot in safe mode or normally".

The main failure on the Optiplex 745 units are capacitors on the motherboard. When they fail you can get all sorts of strange problems - no boot, blue screen issues, no video or distorted video. Open your machine up and look for bulging capacitors on the board. Here is a link to a guide showing what to look for on the motherboard to determine if your problem is capacitor related or not.

If you do find bulging capacitors on the motherboard then more than likely that will be your problem. You can replace the capacitors and your board will be as good as new.

Couple things to try if you haven't already.
1. Check Control Panel -> System --> Device Manager. Check Display Adaptors and Sound for any issues or marks, remove them and reboot.

2. Reboot and go into the BIOS, probably by hitting F2 while booting, disable the onboard audio, save and allow it to restart.

The "blink" is an indication that the monitor is *NOT* getting any signal from your computer's video-card. Either your video-card is the problem, or your computer is "sleeping", and you cannot "wake" it.

Reboot your computer, and watch the monitor, to see if anything at all is displayed.

Reboot with a different monitor connected, to see if anything at all is displayed.

If another monitor works, your monitor is the problem. If neither monitor works, it's the vide-card inside your computer that is the problem.

Try using the integrated display of the motherboard. If you get a display then as you mentioned that one of the the capacitors has overheated and cracked. Just replacing the capacitor does not guarantee repair because of the chain affect some other unots on that circuit might have conked out too........sodeep

Ok It Sounds As Though You've Been Run Around By What Is Supposed To Be A Reliable Computing Company. What Your Explaining Is Sounding More And More Like Your Sound Card Is Corrupt In Accomodation To Certain Things But It May Not Be You Can Try Downloading And Installing A Sound Card From Realtek They Are Reliable And Great Sound Quality If Your Problem Still Persists See A Qualified Computer Technician That Isnt An Idiot Like The Company You Were Being Guided By. If You Do Not Wish To Back-up Your Files You Wish To Keep To Disks And Re-Install Your System Doing So Afterwards You May Need To Re-Install SP2 Sound Card Ect. I Hope This Is Of Some Help to You

Uninstall the video card from Device Manager,Re-install but do not use the old drivers which I fear have become corrupted.Download new drivers from the Manufacturer.Make sure there are the correct drivers for your Card no associates the real deal.
