First the interior light went out. I did read that can be replaced by removing the cover wiith four screws. Now the little window up top that shows how many minutes you have left to cook isn't very bright at all. Is that also a bulb? Everything else is fine. i hope I don't need a new one. Thanks so much
If you can still read the time and count down when it is cooking, use it the way it is. The cost to repair would not be justified, it would require a new keypad control board which contains the display.

The controller needs to be repaired. We regularly repair these control board assemblies for only $32.50 nationwide, and that's much cheaper than replacing the board. For safety, disassembly and other info see http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

It's pretty simple as long as you have an offset phillips
screwdriver...
Of course, be sure to disconnect power to microwave and be sure not
to touch the new halogen bulb with fingers.
STEP-BY-STEP:
First, remove upper vent panel and remove inner filter (same directions
for just replacing inner carbon filter):
Then, remove inner plastic grille (2 screws) and final screw on left
side of metal "air duct" - here's where you'll need the offset screw
driver (and a little patience!):
Then, you can gently lift the sheet metal panel, find the light
housing, squeeze and remove/replace :)
That's it...just replace bulb and reverse for reassembly. Be
sure to keep track of screw locations there are various sizes/lengths
used.

Hi Mike.
Difficult to say on yours. You may try the following. On the back or side, if there is a little cover that's screwed into the panel. Otherwise browse around on the inside. Be sure to unplug the micro before checking. Once found be sure to replace with a microwave lamp and not a fridge lamp. There is a difference. Good Luck,JUS004

Your post has two distinct model numbers shown, so it's hard to be precise, but I'll try my best.
You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383
I have a diagram at my site which helps you find & replace many GE cooktop and cavity light bulbs. Other models are similar. It's at

Always unplug a microwave before removing or installing any bulbs!
If it's an over the range type, remove the vent grille across the top and see if bulbs can be accessed there.
There may be a panel on the bottom covering the light(s), too.
If not, chances are you'll have to remove it from the wall, then remove the outer cover.
Many models use halogen lamps. You must not touch the new one with your bare skin, as the oils will shorten the bulb life.
If yours is an Advantium type, the following instructable should help: http://www.instructables.com/id/SZFF4WSF44XYT8X/?comments=all

Thanks so much for taking the time to write. I thought this might be the case. Iam not a fan of the throw-qway society.. so I will use it as it is til it stops completely. Maybe I can use a little flash light to look into the area when I need to?
I was able to get to the other light problem. Funny little $18.00 bulb to light up the interior of the oven which was out too but not as irritating as the display light.Ha! you are right $97.00 I think it was for the panel and the whole unit cost $90.00 new. It is a great oven and I'm used to its features. Not a big hideous presence in the kitchen.. so I will live with is problem. Thanks John.so nice of you to write...
