Hp dv2000 will not display through a KVM

I have a hp dv2000 that will not display through a Belkin F1D104 KVM switch. It shows on the monitor for a couple of seconds then the monitor goes blank. Interestingly, it works on a cable with all 15 pins in it. The other cable has pin 9 missing, so I am assuming that pin is the culprit. Also interesting is that my Dell Laptop running Windows 7 showed the same problem until I issued the WindowsKey-P command to put it into Projector Mode. Then it was fine. But as near as I can tell the HP and Windows XP have no such command that will override whatever is going on. Any help is appreciated!

KVM switches are tricky, (have a bunch of them , parked in attic.)
Belkin F1D104 KVM switch
is it full of USB ports?
is it with VGA, DVI or HDMI.
what?
15P is VGA, so
the other cable. is a what? im clueless on that.

VGA pin 9, is blank, but can be used for 5vdc option from VGA car to some odd ball displays,... (not a good idea ever, IMO)
so forget Pin 9
now if Pin 9 was DVI, that be bad ideal to cut that Data 1 pin
does yours have PS2 ports and USB ?

there are no KVMs that run all 3 video standards,
if there was, it would be very expensive.
ok found your users manual.
did you leave off the ending letters on the model.
KVM F1D104-usb? ?

Ok seems I know the issues
first go in to stinking XP.

The KVM must have video and 2x sync lines active all the time.
so you you switch it can find the hot port of the 4 ports there.
to do that magic, click
control panel
click power settings
go to custom setting, make a custom profile with say your name
and turn off all sleeps. all hibernates
and all screen savers
or it will never ever work right.

in effect you are switching to a dead, VGA port.

in projector mode, it bypasses all those wrong settings above.

SOURCE: HP Monitor blanking out on full screen mode

Hi, I read this somewhere (can't recall the site). Go to your desktop properties (right click on any clear area of your desktop); Settings tab; Advanced button; Troubleshoot Tab; Uncheck Enable Write combining; Reboot your PC. If this does not fix the problem, you can always revert back. Hope this be of some help. Good luck and kind regards.

SOURCE: my monitor is not working hp pavilion dv2000

Your laptop model is on recall.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=1842189&docname=c01300427#c01300427_dv20

Its a loose graphics chip. seems like laptop companies dont ever learn. nVidia is taking the fall now. Before ATI was the problem.

SOURCE: Monitor goes blank after seeing XP during boot up.

did u replace the video card with the same kind of model ? i guess yes ... when system starts hit the f8 key and than go in to safe mode ... mouse wont work so use arrow on the keyboard .. and in the safe mode just log in to admin account if available or login to ur account and see if that still happens .. and if it doesnt ... remove the drivers for the graphic card from add and remove programs and restart the system and go in the normal mode and than install the drivers again ... and if the display disappears in the safe mode or u have install a different graphic card than ... reseat the memory cards and that should resolve the issue .... if that doesnt work out when the system starts hit f1 and stay on the BIOS screen for 30 mins if the system doesnt loose display than u need to reinstall OS ... that will surely work out ... the resolutions given above if u follow them correctly u will have a working system in no time

SOURCE: unable to connect to samsung tv as monitor for hp laptop

Hi there
DSUB is VGA, has your TV got a VGA port on the back? if so and you know what the source the channel is then you will need a male to male VGA lead and a mini stereo jack to left and right male phono jacks for the audio, the DSUB or VGA does not carry audio through it.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!

How to connect my lcd kvm and make it display on sreen

You question is unclear. Please specify the makes and model of all devices. I typically use Rackmount Monitor Keyboard combos with integrated KVM Switches for larger server applications. I have used quiet a few units from KVMSwitchTech and they work pretty well.

I have connected my monitor to a kvm switch but it displays nothing on screen...please help

If you are getting no video then either the KVM Switch is not transmitting video or the cable is defective. I would recommend checking with the supplier of the KVM Switch you are using.

Where can I can the drivers for the Belkin 2 port KVM switch F1dk102u

Hi:
The Belkin 2 port KVM switch doesn't need drivers to work, it is simply a plug and play switch. You plug your keyboard, mouse and monitor into the control box, and your computers into the ends, and off you go. You toggle between computers with the switch button, and if you turn off one of the computers, it automatically swiches to the other one.

I have a Viewsonic VS11531 27.5 inch monitor I use a OmniView® PRO3 16-Port USB & PS/2 KVM Switch. The monitor has a res of 1900 x 1200 but when I hook it to the kvm switch the display will not...

In the link below, on page 9 of the PDF the maximum stated resolution of the KVM is Up to 1920x1440 @ 75Hz.

http://cache-www.belkin.com/support/dl/p75457_f1da116z_man.pdf

The monitor supports up to 1920x1200 @ 60Hz.

It sounds like there is an issue of synchronization between the monitor and KVM. This will force the monitor into a lower resolution to sync them. You may want to check with Belkin to see if there is a firmware update for the KVM. There may also be a driver issue with one(all) of the video cards on the system. I recommend updating the drivers on all affected machines with the monitor connected directly to the individual machines. Rather than using generic drivers, I would use the drivers downloaded from the manufacturer of video cards and from Viewsonic for the monitor.

you need to set the temp selector on the monitor to the cooler temp.  It's in the monitor set-up controls.

Switching

The switching software that you installed on your computer when you installed the KVM includes an optional setting called "scan" that can be set to automatically page between the two displays.

This is most often used when the device is used for network or server status monitoring. If you configured that to switch every one second I can see how that would be very annoying.

Check the configuration of the switching software to verify that the scan setting is turned off.

Can's switch without it switching back to first PC

Sadly, it is probably the KVM as this particular model has a string of failures and is only rated 2 out of 5 stars on Amazon due to poor performance. :( http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-F1DK102U-2-Port-Switch-Cables/dp/B0001JXAQ6/ref=sr_1_1/105-6999807-3936431?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1187826004&sr=8-1 What I would do first is plug in Computer 2 directly to the monitor, keyboard and mouse with no KVM. If those work fine, it is probably not a computer issue; if you don't get video here, then it is a seperate issue with that PC. If Computer 2 is working, plug both computers into the KVM but switch the cables (plug Computer 1 into the KVM using Computer 2's cables). If Computer 2 shows up and can't switch to Computer 1, then it is the KVM messing up.
