When you push the on button for the tv, the button will light up red but no picture will show up. There is also no sound.
- HiTech I am having the same issue, are you sure about your solution?? Because if I unplug the Covgence IC board, the TV power up with a miss-aligned screen. So I am assumming is the the IC board (STK392-040 with other burn out resistor) I am about to fix that, so I just wanted to know are you sure your soultion will work? - Judy, can you confirm did you get this working by fixing that
Sounds like you Switching IC has failed. This is becoming a common problem with this type of TV's. This IC is identified on the board as IC831S (STR-X6456). The chip cost about $24.
This was a possible solution, but if you say it powers up when you
remove the Covergence Module this could be a possible problem. The
Samsung's are equipped with a Fail Safe circuit, if the F/S changes from its 2.5 volts the MICOM kills power to T801S. To test
this check the power on CN801. They sould read as follows:
with your meter attached to TP61 to grd should read 117 volts and
13.8 volt at TP62. If these are not present then T801S is turn-off. If they are present then you will need a Oscope to do futher
testing or just replace the Covergence and see what happens.
