Burning smell after i replaced lamp

I replaced the lamp in my samsung television and now there is a terrible burning smell i replaced it with another bulb and the burning smell is still there. also after taking out the bulb and looking inside there seems to be a small burn mark on an aluminum piece on the right side where the bulb was. can this be fixed? will the smell go away? do i need a new tv?

ok found out that when i shifted my tv to replacce the bulb i loosened dust inside the set. the dust was then being burned by the heat from the bulb. it would have burned off but i got the inside cleaned. now i know to vacuum the vents on a monthly basis to keep it from building up dust.

Have a expert examine the set to make sure there is no safety issue here and if not the set may have got some plastic so hot that is what you are smelling.

I have the same problem and was told by a technician that I need to replace the light engine. Probably around $ 700.00.

SOURCE: Samsung HLR5667W lamp replace

The Problem you all are describing is a faulty light tunnel assembly it is common on most DLP projector sets.

Something I would not recommend attempting if you don't have the skills, It involves taking apart the optical system of the engine, you could have it repaired from an authorized service center for under $400.00.

SOURCE: SAMSUNG TV MODEL # PCL541R bulb not working

With the model number you gave, it comes back to a 2002 model in which DLP sets were not out yet. That's a conventional projection set with 3 picture tubes. Check the model number again?

SOURCE: Samsung 50" DLP - Lamp Light Blinking after bulb replacement

Listen closely. The tv should make a high pitch whine as it turns on. If it does wait and see if it tries this a few times. If yes then check the bulb, I have seen cases where the lamp shoves the power connector back into the set. If the tv starts with a grown or heavy vibration noise, then your color wheel may have broken and needs replaced.

I have a mitsubishi tv model wd 60638 I changed the lamp. Tv works fine for about 20 minutes then I start to smell like something is burning then picture starts to flicker, what could could cause this

You have a bad connector in the lamp. Stop running the TV immediately and contact the company you purchased the lamp from. this is common in older DLP tvs but not in one 5 years old unless you have a lot of hours on it. the connector can crack and arc inside the plug and then melt and smell terrible. It usually very repairable if you can get a ballast for it. the plug is part of the ballast.

should have unplugged it when you noticed the smell.

UNPLUG and remove and look at lamp you installed--is something in the housing where lamp goes melted? I hope you did not touch the face of the bulb with your hand or fingers.

What ever is wrong find it before trying to use set again.

Samsung 50 inch tv blew last night burning smell at time not getting any picture just a clicking sound

It sounds like either the lamp has blown or the ballast for the lamp has blown. You can call 1-800-samsung for nearest service center.

Horrible burning smell from lamp

If you ordered it directly from sony then i would be concerned and contact the to have it replaced under warranty. If you did not get it directly from sony I would expect it is a rebuilt lamp or you purchased just the lamp part instead of the whole cartridge and installed it into the carttridge yourself. The lamp is designed to be replaced as a cartridge . The smell is probly a lamp that is burning the wires on the back side of the lamp because it is incorrectly inserted and the wires are touching the glass. Just a couple times i have seen a lamp that will smell slightly as the plastic and insulation heats up for the first time. But it only smells a little for like a day.

I replaced the bulb on my Samsung DLP projection TV (HLT5075SX/XAA) but now there is a plastic burning smell. Does anybody know what it can be?

That is probely the smell of the new lamp. If the odor persist and gets worse then remove the lamp and inspect it and the inside of the tv.
