Screen flickers My HP labtop screen keeps flickering and then goes black. I tried to tilt or punch a little the lid or the edges of the screen just to make sure of the wiring, but nothing happens. Can you help me troubleshoot the issue? Thanks

It is either the inverter board or the backlight. There are no fixes, only replacement.

Try another good monitor, if it solves the problem replace the monitor if not replace the computer.

I have an HP/Compaq nc6220 laptop. When I try to boot it up it flickers the goes to black screen and won't boot up. What should I do?

If you havent tried to boot your operating system from a disk or jump drive (which you can get from you local PC store for around 5 bucks) then I'd say your either missing harware components, or the ones you have are fried, and your better off buying a new PC.

HP Pavilion g series g7 black screen but occasion flicker shows it is up and running.

Hook a spare monitor to the video output usually on the back, if picture is okay! the problem lies in the inverter board, "just below the screen" or the backlight behind the LCD display, or the video cable from the screen to the motherboard has come loose from the plugin. But if both show the same symptom it means the Video Graphics Card is defective, normally built into the motherboard.

Hp pavilion dv5, flickering screen problem mostly when 26" external monitor is connected, Using Windows Vista 32bit

First restart the computer and tap f10 key on keyboard to enter bios, and check wethere the screen flickers or not you can even try to tilt the screen and check as the drivers doesnt works in bios screen ... if the screen flickers then it is a hardware issue .. if it doesnt then log on to safe mode with networking by pressing f8 as the notebook restarts and then go to device manager by typeing device at the start search and the uninstall the video driver and then reinstall it from hp.com support and drivers ..issue will be resolved if not then do a bios update from hp.com, support and drivers.

Flickering screen

Take it apart and check the wires that power the screen. If moving the lid has any effect, you've likely got an intermittent open circuit in the wiring that goes through the hinge. You can try to figure out which one it is, but those wires are usually too small to splice without micro-miniature tools. I'd search for the best price on a replacement screen for when you get tired of it or it finally goes away completely.

If you can give it a desktop-replacement role where the lid doesn't need to move much anymore or run it off an external monitor permanently, you may be able to extend the useful life at little or no cost. A docking station would be preferable here, since running a direct external monitor over the long term will likely fry the motherboard after a year or so of constant use.

Last choice is to slick the drive, sell it for cheap on ebay, take that money and the money you saved on not buying a screen and put it towards a new one if you want to invest in an upgrade.

Acer Laptop Screen Flickering

The flickering screen indicates that it is a backlight problem with either a faulty inverter or inverter connection problem. The inverter is usually located at the bottom edge of the LCD screen, and may have one or two connectors (one for the video info. and one for the inverter power or a combined connector) attached to the motherboard under the case near the top edge of the keyboard near the hinges. Reseating these connectors may solve your problem.

LCD cutting out

In the absence of any flickering, I think it is the inverter for the backlight that has developed a heat problem.
Experiment with this; tilt the laptop, raising it in the rear with anything that does not appreciably block air flow, then use a fan placed behind it aimed at the underside of the case.
If the time before death (blackout) is extended, then it is as described above. If it makes no difference, then it is likely only the fluorescent backlight lamp itself.

Hp Laptop screen flicker

I am sure that the issue is related to the cable that connects to the LCD Display or the LCD Backlight.
There should be some connection shortage because of which the LCD flickers few times as stated by dan231.
I Recommend you to get the Notebook examined as soon as possible before something really goes wrong...

Hp Laptop screen flicker

Hi, i noticed that when I unplugged my HP the screen stopped flickering. I then re-plugged in the power, when to the Nvidia control settings, to PowerMizer, and changed 'ac outlet' to Maximum Power Saving.

Not the world's greatest solution, but hey, working laptop now.

Cheers,
Andy.
